Integra continues unique awards program in fifth season as IMCA sponsor

COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (March 21) – Fifth-year sponsor Integra Racing Shocks has renewed one of the most unique awards program in IMCA. The Coopersville, Mich., manufacturer continues a unique program based on combined national Late Model and Deery Brothers Summer Series points. Drivers with the top two point totals each receive $350 product certificates; third and fourth place finishers each get $250 certificates and the fifth and sixth place drivers both get $150 certificates. “Generally speaking, the more you compete, the more success you will experience and that certainly has played out with this program the past four years,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder observed. “Ray Guss Jr. and Justin Kay have had outstanding years not only in the run to a national championship but to Deery Brothers Summer Series success as well. It will be interesting to see which driver sits atop the Integra combined point challenge at the end of this season.” Integra also continues contingency awards for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts [Read More]

Taylor is best in Mid-America Modified Championship opener at Batesville

BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 20) – There was no shortage of out-of-state talent on the track but opening night honors at Batesville Motor Speedway’s Mid-America Modified Championship belonged to a driver from fairly close to home. Jeff Taylor led the last four laps in topping the Thursday feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The $1,500 victory put him on the ballot for this September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. He’d started third in the 25-lapper, fell back to fifth and then had to pass Jacob Murray, Spencer Wilson and Jared Siefert before setting his sights on Ken Schrader. Schrader was making his first IMCA start of the season. The front two were running with lapped cars when they got together in an incident that saw Taylor emerge with the lead. Completing the top five would be Schrader, Wilson, Richie Tosh and Siefert. Taylor has now won feature events at three consecutive Mid-America Modified Championships, including a pair in 2012. The 18th annual special continues with features Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22. Six states were [Read More]

IMCA Modifieds return to Prescott Valley Raceway

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 20) – During his own racing career, Bugs Norbury appreciated Prescott Valley Raceway as a track that rewarded talent and not horsepower. He’s confident IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers who return to the 1/3-mile clay oval, located at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds beginning with opening night on April 5 will share that sentiment. A full season of Saturday events are scheduled at Prescott Valley through Sept. 27. “This is more of a driver’s track. Horsepower doesn’t win here, talent does,” said Norbury, who had leased the venue for several sprint car specials before re-opening for weekly shows midway through 2013. “Drivers like it for that reason.” Sanctioned Modifieds ran at PVR from 2005-2011. They were a fan favorite and bringing the division back means Norbury doesn’t have to write the rules himself. “These cars put on good races. They’re entertaining and they’re competitive,” he said. “The rules are another plus. IMCA writes them and we enforce them.” Nearly 600 tons of clay have been added to the racing surface at Prescott [Read More]
