Cady anticipates first Willamette IMCA Modified event

By Ben Deatherage ALBANY, Ore. – Dustin Cady is ready for the 2015 season to begin for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Willamette Speedway. In fact, he’s more than ready, he’s excited about the prospect of building on a strong 2014 finish. Cady posted two top fives, including a win on Sept. 20, all while finishing fifth in the points table despite getting a little bit of a late start to the season. Cady never finished outside the top 10. His other win was the Modified Tribute To Clair Arnold held on Aug. 23. Hamilton County Deery rescheduled for July 23

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (April 24) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series event rained out last Saturday at Hamilton County Speedway has been rescheduled. Touring IMCA Late Models will join the July 23 Thursday Night Thunder program at Webster City. The evening’s main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Regular weekly classes will also run during the county fair show. The rescheduling results in a midweek doubleheader as the series is at Quad City Speedway in East Moline, Ill., on Wednesday, July 22. Quad City Speedway is also the next Deery destination. Princeton opens May 1 with IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods, Sport Compacts

PRINCETON, Minn. – Three IMCA divisions will have another regular weekly home in central Minnesota, when Princeton Speedway opens for the season on May 1. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts run on Fridays on the quarter-mile Mille Lacs County Fairgrounds dirt venue. IMCA Eagle Motor Sports Sprint Cars join May 15, June 26, July 24 and Sept. 18 shows at Princeton. Top five pay upped for Southern Raceway Bay Area Modified Tour show

MILTON, Fla. – Bigger payouts are at stake for top five finishers in the Saturday, April 25 Bay Area Emerald Coast Tour feature at Southern Raceway. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature winner earns $650, with $500 for second, $400 for third, $300 for fourth and $250 for fifth. A $100 cash clean driving hard charger award will be paid to the driver improving position in the feature without making contact with another car. Cassell looks to defend IMCA Modified Oregon state title in 2015

In 2015 he will try his very best to defend that IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified crown. In two starts this season he managed a 15th place finish at Cottage Grove on April 4 but was very impressive last weekend at Sunset Speedway Park, ending the evening second in the feature. “Last weekend we were a little off but we learned some stuff with this car,” commented Cassell. “We were good toward the end so I’m not going to complain.” “We had to make a lot of small changes to the car this year, so the balance of the car is still a little off of where it needs to be,” he added. Porter dominates Southern Iowa Chassis Hobby Stock Special

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (April 22) – Dale Porter dominated Wednesday night’s headline event at Southern Iowa Speedway, the 20-lap Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock special presented by Southern Iowa Chassis. Porter grabbed the lead on lap one, just before the caution came out for several cars that got together in turn three. Porter did not let that get to him even though he had Nick Ulin and Dustin Griffiths right behind. Porter pulled away to win by a full straightaway over Ulin, who edged out Griffiths for second. Todd Shute was the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified main event winner. Damon Murty took the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car win despite a late race charge from Mike Hughes. Curtis VanDerWal was first to the KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod checkers and Trent Orwig held off John Whalen to win the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature. Season opener set for Friday at Davenport Speedway

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The battle for the Davenport Speedway track championships begins this Friday, April 24, with the Koehler Electric-sponsored season opener. Night number two of season Saturday at Sunset Speedway Park

Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will tackle the 1/4-mile clay oval for the first time in 2015. Along with the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, other divisions making their way to the Banks Bullring include the street stocks, pure stocks and 4-bee’s. Pit gates open at 2 p.m., the front gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m.

Willamette practices Friday, races on Saturday

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – Willamette Speedway will be a busy place this weekend with events scheduled for Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25. An open test and tune session runs from 4 p.m. to dusk on Friday. Grandstand admission is free. Pit passes are $15 and car and driver is $30. On Saturday, the historic 1/3-mile clay oval will be back to racing. Classes in action will include the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, super sports, sportsman and street stocks. The Modifieds were apart of the April 11th event that was rained out partway through the program so it will technically be their first race of the season. Pit gates open at 1 p.m., the drivers’ meeting is at 2:30 p.m., front gates open at 3:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m.
