Sunday show at Quad City Speedway next for Deery Series

EAST MOLINE, Ill. (April 28) – Quad City Speedway’s Hershel Roberts Memorial is next on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The Sunday, May 3 IMCA Late Model tour event at East Moline pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. This is the fifth annual Roberts Memorial, held in honor of the long-time driver, car owner and Quad City Speedway Hall of Famer. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan drove for Roberts and won the 2011, 2012 and 2013 events. Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, topped the Roberts Memorial last May, earning a victory that helped propel him to the 2014 tour title. In all, 16 previous Deery Series events have been held at Quad City Speedway since 1990. The only other multiple feature winner has been Rob Toland, in 1998 and 2004. Ideal Ready Mix sponsors Deery Ironman Challenge

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – An elite field is guaranteed on night one of the biggest weekend on the 2015 Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. The Ironman Challenge, sponsored by Ideal Ready Mix, pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start Friday, Sept. 4 during the Liberty 100 at West Liberty Raceway. Only drivers with perfect attendance through the first 14 IMCA Late Model tour events of the season and former series champions will make the starting grid. National points leader notches another win at Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 25) – National points leader Fred Ryland posted his 12th Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win of the season Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Ryland passed his wife Patti, and Chuck Golden after a seventh lap restart. Golden maintained second as Paul Mulder worked his way up to third before the finish. Patti Ryland and Al Sotomayor comprised the rest of top five. “The engine was just not running right in the heat race,” Ryland said in victory lane. “Our crew got the problem fixed just in time for the feature.”

Hancock County checkers fly for Ruter

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (April 25) – Ryan Ruter earned IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified win number three on the season Saturday at Hancock County Speedway. Troy Swearingen took second and Adam Larson was third. One hundred and nineteen cars filled the pits at Britt, among them 30 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, 25 Modifieds and 25 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Dustin Larson made the journey from Worthington, Minn., worthwhile by taking the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers. Kevin Opheim was the runner-up and David Wickman was third. Clay Evans won the Northern SportMod main event, topping Greg Sidles and Nick Meyer. Justin Nehring won the Hobby Stock feature followed by Cody Nielsen and Jeremy Wegner. Kaytee DeVries edged out husband Jay for the win in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature. Jacob Kofoot ended up third.

Schneiders tops Modified main at Raceway Park

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (April 26) – Raceway Park kicked off their 2015 IMCA Championship points season Sunday night with action in five divisions. The Total Motors IMCA Modifieds put on a show ultimately won by Jason Schneiders. Ricky Stephan jumped out front in the early laps only to be chased down by defending champion Chris Abelson. After trading the lead back and forth, the duo came together while negotiating lapped traffic with seven laps remaining, sending both to the rear on the restart. Jim Thies then took the point with Jay Noteboom and Schneiders in tow. With four to go, Schneiders made his move out of turn number four, slicing under Thies and using the inside line to hold Noteboom at bay to the checkers. Behind Schneiders, Noteboom, and Thies, Josh Most rounded out the top four. Dirt Works Race Cars title sponsorship covers expanded Eastern Region for IMCA Modifieds

ORONOGO, Mo. – More IMCA Modified drivers will race this season for point fund money provided by Eastern Region title sponsor Dirt Works Race Cars. The new Bay Area Emerald Coast Tour brings the division back to tracks in Alabama and Florida in 2015, while weekly sanctions continue in Michigan and New York. Points earned at the first eight Empire State Series events also figure toward regional standings. Owned by veteran driver Jerry Hoffman, Dirt Works Race Cars is a sister company to Hoffman Race Cars. The Oronogo, Mo., chassis builder is in its third season as regional title sponsor and provides a portion of the $6,000 to be paid to top 10 drivers in final point standings. Patterson makes it 3-for-3 at Tri-State

Dalton Ragsdale finished second and Kris Vaughn was third. Aaron Scroggins picked up his second feature win of the season in the IMCA SportMods while Ken McCarty and Todd Broyles rounded out the top three. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature completed the night’s racing with Casey Lindell taking home the big money over Tate Cole and Brent Holman. GREAT FALLS, Mont. (April 25) – A record number of Modifieds and the division’s first-ever ‘B’ feature at Electric City Speedway drew their share of headlines at Saturday’s Spring Roundup. North Dakota travelers Travis Peery and Jason Wolla ran 1-2 in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event as long tows complemented a stellar contingent of home state drivers. Twenty-seven Modifieds, the most in the 26 years the division has run at Great Falls, were on hand for the season-opening special. “There have been a lot of Modifieds around us but we were on an island. Gustin makes late pass for victory at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Apr. 26) – Jenae Gustin used a pass in the final corner to earn top Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod honors Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Tony Olson held the lead at the drop of the green in the 20-lapper before Clint Luellen took command following a lap five restart. Meanwhile, Gustin was working through the field from a fifth row start and settled into second just past the midway point. With Luellen navigating through slower traffic, Gustin was able to chip away at the lead in the waning laps. Running the top side throughout the event, Gustin was forced to the low groove in traffic and was able to challenge Luellen for the lead late. Hager repeats in IMCA Hobbies at RPM

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (April 25) – Hometown driver Garrett Hager won his second feature in a row at RPM Speedway Saturday evening. Brady Bencken led the first 11 laps of the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock event when Robert Leonard slowed to bring out a caution. While under caution, Bencken went to the pits with a flat tire. That handed the lead over to Shay Simoneau when the green flag returned, but he was passed by Hager on the following lap. Hager held on through two more cautions to make his return appearance in the winner’s circle. Duane Wahrman finished in the runner-up spot.
