
Second try for opening fight Friday at Salina Speedway
By Dusty Wiegert SALINA, Kan. – Last week the engines roared to life as cars took to the Salina Speedway’s 3/8 mile oval for the first time in 2015. It was short-lived, however, as severe storms closed in and forced the cancellation of the night’s events before they got started. Race teams and fans are now anticipating the second take on opening night Friday, May 1. All that was completed in last week’s show was hot laps, so this week’s racing will start from scratch, with seven divisions competing in qualifying heat races and features. Those divisions are the BSB Manufacturing NeSmith Late Models, 1st Class Chassis IMCA Modifieds, Coors Light IMCA Stock Cars, Xtreme Motorsports IMCA Northern SportMods, Auto House Mod Lites, Budweiser IMCA Hobby Stocks, and M&H Motors IMCA Sport Compacts. An added bonus includes a special heat race winner payout. Don Damon and Xtreme Motor Sports will be giving $50 to all heat race winners in every division.
