At-large balloting complete, 18 more All-Stars announced

BOONE, Iowa – Two more former race winners joined the field for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational through the at-large round of voting. Jay Noteboom, winner of the 2005 and 2008 events, and Chris Abelson, the 2011 race winner, are among 18 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified drivers advancing from the second round of balloting, which ended on Friday. Noteboom will start his career ninth All-Star event, more than any other driver, on Friday, Sept. 9 during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s at Boone Speedway. Abelson takes the All-Star green for a sixth straight year. They’ll be joined by first-time All-Stars Kyle Brown, Brian Irvine, Travis Hagen, Cody Laney and Lance Mari; and second-time starters Kellen Chadwick, Corey Dripps, Cody Gearhart, Ryan Ruter, Kelly Shryock, Ricky Stephan and Jason Wolla. Off Road Speedway point leaders pace finishers

(Aug. 6) – The time for making a move in the points standings at Off Road Speedway is running out as just three nights of racing remain before Championship Night on Sept. 3. Not surprisingly, among the top finishers during Saturday night’s features were several names found toward the top of those division standings. In the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature, for example, the top three places went to drivers who happen to be listed first, second, and third in the standings … Lance Mielke, Shannon Pospisil and Brooke Fluckiger, respectively … and within 10 total points of each other. Mielke picked up a critical second win of the season at Off Road Speedway among 11 top five finishes in 12 races. Pospisil and Fluckiger each added a ninth top five finish to their 12-race total. LaCrosse leads to checkered flag at Luxemburg

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. (Aug. 5) – Benji LaCrosse has mastered the art of winning the Kim Parsons Memorial Races in 2016. He added another Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win to his credit after starting 11th at Luxemburg Speedway. Brandon Long led the opening laps before Greg Gretz showed the way starting on lap three. A caution on lap 12 brought R.M. Van Pay and LaCrosse to the bumper of the leader. LaCrosse, who seemed to have forward bite wherever he put his racer, moved low and made a bid for the lead. Gretz fought him off once but LaCrosse went high and cruised. LaCrosse went high and grabbed the lead with four laps remaining where he fought off a late-race caution. Gretz finished second in front of Van Pay. Cooney scores IMCA Late Model win at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 5) – After more than four inches of rain on Thursday evening, and the infield a muddy bog with a pond that the Canada geese enjoyed earlier, Marshalltown Speedway still pulled off a full night of racing Friday. A full pit of 116 cars, that included the IMCA Late Models in their first of five consecutive weekly appearances, put on a great night of exciting racing action for the fans. The 25-lap Late Model feature did not start well when the front row of Ben Seemann and John Emerson got together just after the race went green. This relegated them to the tail for the restart. When things got back underway, it was hometown driver Darrel DeFrance grabbing the lead. By lap three, Todd Cooney had moved from his sixth row starting position, to tag on to DeFrance’s tail. Five win Kossuth County fair features

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 4) – Derek Green, Ryan Ruter, Shannon Anderson, Tyler Thompson and Jake Simpson all earned feature wins at the Kossuth County Fair Race at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona on Thursday. Feature winners received $1,000 in the Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock classes along with a six-foot tall trophy. Green was the most dominating winner of the evening as he won for the second time this summer at Algona. Craig Berhow and Troy Swearingen were on the front row at the start of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature with Swearingen taking the lead on the opening circuit. On the next lap, Green used the high side of the oval to fly past Swearingen and immediately built a nice lead. Modified dash is new to IMCA Harris Clash

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (Aug. 5) – Promoter Bob Harris has found a new twist for one of the longest running specials for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. Drivers from eight states are now pre-entered for the 25th annual Harris Clash, which will pay $2,000 to win next Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. The Clash is the second nightly installment of IMCA Speedweek and a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. What’s new this year is a 10-lap dash that pays $500 to win and $100 to start. Sibley County checkers are Minnesota first for Nichols

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 3) – Mike Nichols added his first-ever win in Minnesota to his collection of 400-plus IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers Wednesday night. Nichols topped the $1,500 to win Sibley County Stock Car Shootout at Arlington Raceway, outrunning a host of home state heroes. “This was just the second time I’ve even raced in Minnesota. The first time was an October race at Jackson in 2000 or 2001, so it’s been a while,” he said. “Arlington is pretty similar to Shelby County Speedway (in Harlan, Iowa), my Saturday night track, so I kind of felt at home.” Nichols started the 25-lapper from inside row four. SPENCER, Iowa – The first Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Clay County Fair Speedway will also be one of the top-paying races in the six-plus season history of the series for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds. First at Flomaton pays $1,000 to IMCA Modified tour winner

FLOMATON, Ala. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win when the Bay Area Emerald Coast Tour is at Flomaton Speedway this Saturday. The Aug. 6 show is part of the Jarrod Jones Memorial program and is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Entry fee is $35.
