IMCA extends Late Model point season to April 1-Sept. 23

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA Late Model drivers running for national and state honors will have more on-track opportunities in 2017. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded at all Deery Brothers Summer Series events as the tour switches from a unique 50-point system to IMCA’s familiar 40-point system. That change begins with the Deery Series opener at 34 Raceway in West Burlington on Saturday, April 1. National and state points will be awarded at events through the Liberty 100 Weekend series finale at West Liberty Raceway Friday and Saturday, Sept. 22-23. “Changing the point structure makes the Deery Series consistent with how we handle other tours, such as the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for Modifieds and the RaceSaver Sprint Car series,” explained Tour Director Kevin Yoder, “and makes it possible to incorporate those races into our national and state standings.” Promoters have the option to award track points for Deery Series events held during the track point season that runs from April 28-Aug. 27. Schultz, Seidler score IMCA Modified wins at Cactus Clash

Schultz, Seidler score IMCA Modified wins at Cactus Clash YUMA, Ariz. (Feb. 3-4) – Brian Schultz had never won a feature the way he did before Friday night at Cocopah Speedway while Marlyn Seidler continued his Arizona success in Saturday’s IMCA Modified Cactus Clash headliner. Schultz motored his way to the front from 15th starting and passed Tim Ward coming to the checkers to win the opening night event at Yuma. Seidler reeled in leader Leland Hibdon, took charge following a mid-race restart and held off all challengers following a series of late yellows on night two. Both checkers were good for $1,000 and put the winners on the ballot for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Marshalltown spices up Friday races with IMCA Late Models

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – IMCA Late Models will return to weekly race programs in a “Late Model town.” The division joins Friday night shows at Marshalltown Speedway April 28 through Aug. 25. “There’s a ton of buzz going on around here about them. It seems like everybody you talk to says ‘Hey, I hear you’re bringing the Late Models back,” said Promoter Toby Kruse. “We already have a strong weekly IMCA program here but it’s always good to spice things up a bit when you can and this is definitely a Late Model town.” Sanctioned Late Models were on the card at Marshalltown from 1987-1990. Rumours Sports Bar and Grill, owned by former track promoter Steve Priske, will sponsor the division locally and dash races will be held each week with a ‘super dash’ at the end of the point season. PRO Shocks plans post-season awards for drivers in five IMCA divisions again in 2017

BOONVILLE, Ind. – A wealth of PRO Shock awards go to IMCA drivers in five divisions again this season. The national IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car champion receives a set of four PRO shocks while nearly product certificates worth nearly $5,000 go to eligible IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Certificates valued at $300, $200 and $100 go to top three eligible drivers in the two regions for Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks, and in final national standings for each SportMod division. Eight IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout dates set at five California, Oregon tracks

By Ben Deatherage WHITE CITY, Ore. – Building on last summer’s record-setting series, the IMCA Wild West Modified Shootout returns in 2017 with eight dates at five different tracks in California and Oregon. Each main event for the IMCA Modifieds over the course of the June 23-July 1 tour pays $1,000 to win, a minimum of $100 to start and is a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The seventh annual Shootout will feature drivers from across the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere in the United States and Canada. Dynatech delivers IMCA Modified, Sprint Car awards

BOONVILLE, Ind. – Post-season awards for IMCA Modified and IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers are in the works again in 2017, courtesy of Dynatech. The Boonville, Ind., exhaust systems and related components manufacturer gives a $500 product certificate to the national Modified champion. The runner-up receives $350, with $250 for third and $100 for seventh. Tri-City Motor Speedway announces blood drive partnership

AUBURN, Mich. – Tri-City Motor Speedway is partnering with area businesses and non-profit groups that are hosting blood drives with the American Red Cross or Michigan Blood to help increase donor participation during the summer months. Tri-City is seeking local blood drives held during May, June or July throughout the surrounding communities including, but not limited to: Auburn, Bay City, Beaverton, Gladwin, Midland, Mt. Pleasant, Pinconning and Saginaw. Each participating blood drive will receive one adult grandstand race ticket valued at $14 to give out to all donors who attempt to give blood. The race tickets will be valid for one of three different race nights following the date of the blood drive. JEFFERSON, S.D. – Track owner Adam Adamson believes the new IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car sanction at Park Jefferson Speedway will do more than fill a Saturday night void. The winged division becomes the sixth sanctioned class running at Park Jefferson this season, joining the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. “This is a good opportunity for us. Kruse renews promotional contract at Marshalltown Speedway for 10 years

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Central Iowa Fair Board and race promoter Toby Kruse have signed an agreement to continue their relationship for another 10 years. Kruse has been promoter of the Marshalltown Speedway since 2006. Central Iowa Fair President Tyler Wollam indicated that the new agreement will be beneficial for everyone. “Toby has long been one of the most sought-after race promoters in the entire country.
