Osborn leads at Lexington 

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 28) – Colton Osborn got the best of his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modi­fied foes on season championship night Sunday at Lexington Raceway. Osborn and Anthony Roth were in a see-saw battle during the early laps. Osborn was able to gain a little breathing room and never looked back to earn the main event victory. Roth was the runner-up while Scott Smith ended in third. Cole Egge finally punched through for a feature win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divi­sion. Egge has led the most laps in numerous features this season but it was on the final night of competition that that young gun was able to lead all of the circuits to capture his first win in the division after starting on the outside of the first row. Williamson is $1,000 winner at Willamette 

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (Aug. 27) – Jesse Williamson’s first Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win of the season at Willamette Speedway was worth $1,000. The opening laps of Saturday’s main event were pretty competitive but once Williamson got to the front he was remained there unchallenged. The victory landed him on the ballot for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Schram Brothers Excavating ponied up the extra purse money.

LaCrosse is king of the ring at Oshkosh 

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Aug. 26) – Benji LaCrosse clinched King of the Ring honors with his Friday Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. The third leg of King of the Ring saw Marcus Yarie and LaCrosse tied for the series lead.  Both won their heat races, and started the main event in row two. It was LaCrosse who made the early move and took the lead after the opening lap with Dan Roedl, Yarie, Jeremy Christians, Tim Robbins and Brian Drexler behind.  LaCrosse hooked mid­way up the track and Roedl was running the outside line.  The rest of the field was bunched two and three-wide behind. Yarie moved up to second on lap four and was just behind the leader. A lone caution appeared on lap nine with LaCrosse and Yarie still leading the way. Roedl was holding third while Tim Lemi­rande was the quickest car in the field having moved from his 16th starting spot into fourth for the restart. Super Nationals entries near 800; early registration deadline now Friday

VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 31) – With early entry numbers approaching an amazing 800, the pre-registration deadline for the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s has been extended to noon CST on Friday, Sept. 2. The 785 entries already in hand are 160 ahead of last year’s pace and include 256 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds, 167 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, 106 IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, 163 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, 36 Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods, 49 Mach-1 Sport Compacts and eight IMCA Late Models. A record-tying 27 states as well as Canada, are already represented in the early sign-up numbers for the Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. Sprint Nationals set for Sept. 1-4 run at Eagle Raceway 

EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 31) – All roads lead to Eagle Raceway during the upcoming holiday weekend for the biggest IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car event of the season. The fourth annual Sprint Nationals run Friday, Sept. 1 through Sunday, Sept. 4 at Eagle, with a top prize of as much as $5,000 going to the winner of Sunday’s main event. There are 130 drivers from 15 states and Canada now pre-entered for the Sprint Nationals. A minimum of $2,500, plus a bonus of $50 for each of as many as 50 sanctioned starts made during the current point season, awaits the Sprint Nationals champion. One-way radios required for all divisions at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – One-way radios will be mandatory for all drivers in all divisions competing at the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Numerous one-way devices, such as the Nitro-Bee, are legal for use at Super Nationals; specific information on those devices and channels is to be announced. If they do not already own such a device, drivers will be able to purchase one on Manufacturers’ Row during the week.

Pospisil paces Sport Compacts at Off Road

(Aug. 27) – Plenty of action could be found on the track Saturday at Off Road Speedway, starting with Shannon Pospisil’s Mach-1 Sport Compact win. Pospisil moved into the lead during the third lap while coming out of turn four and survived a green, white, checkered finish following the race’s only caution. Ramsey Meyer, who finished second to Pospisil Thursday in Columbus, did so again Saturday night while Codie Mielke took third. Norfolk Catholic High School senior Gage Koch won for the second time in his career, leading all 15 laps of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Koch, who began racing junior hornets at the age of 12, got his first Hobby Stock win last season, said he “liked the high side tonight, and the car was set up perfect for it … it just felt really good.” Jim Kimmel and TeJay Mielke finished in second- and third-place, respectively. Midweek checkers pay big for DeYoung

AUBURN, Mich. (Aug. 24) – Myron DeYoung raced his way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and picked up a bonus doing it at Tri-City Motor Speedway’s midweek special. DeYoung earned $1,225 for his Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified victory and picked up bonus money on top of that check for ending A.J. Ward’s winning streak. The IMCA Modifieds had 28 drivers check in for the opportunity to win big money by winning their 40-lap feature. Todd Matheson and Chaz Pray brought the field to the initial green flag. Matheson set the early pace before Matt Szecsodi reeled him in and made the pass by lap nine. Defending champion DeYoung eventually overtook Szecsodi just past the halfway point of the race. The 12th starting Ward was having difficulty getting to the front but by the closing laps found himself in the top five. Southern Oregon special boasts $5,000 prize for IMCA Modifieds 

WHITE CITY, Ore. – The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner of Southern Oregon Speedway’s 21st annual Lon Skinner Memorial earns a hefty $5,000. The Sunday, Sept. 4 main event pays a minimum of $500 to each of the 24 starters and is a qualifier for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Modifieds also race for $600 to win in their Saturday, Sept. 3 feature. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for top checks of $400 on Saturday and $600 on Sunday. Early registration and practice is Friday, Sept. 2 at White City. Entry fee for the Modifieds is $200 or $250 at the gate. Transponders are required and must be furnished by the driver.
