EUNICE, N.M. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars get top billing at Cardinal Speedway’s Kelly Sheen Memorial Shootout, which moves to the Memorial Day Weekend for its eighth annual run.
Qualifying starts on Saturday, May 27 at the Eunice, N.M., speedplant. Twenty-five lap main events on Sunday, May 28 sport top checks of $2,000 for the Stocks, $1,200 for the IMCA Modifieds, $800 for the Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods and $500 for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.
All IMCA feature winners receive a 55-gallon drum of fuel in addition to their cash winnings and $100 will be paid to the hard charger in each division.
The Modified feature is a qualifying event for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and minimum start money is $210 for the Stocks, $100 for the Modifieds, $75 for the Southern SportMods and $50 for the Hobbies.
Stock Car drivers who start their Sunday “B” but do not qualify get $100. Modified and Southern SportMod non-transfers get $50, Hobby Stock non-transfers $25.
Entry fees are now $100 for Stock Cars, Modifieds and SportMods, and $75 for Hobby Stocks. Money orders or cashier’s checks only will be accepted.
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded to Modified, Stock Car and Hobby Stock drivers; Southern SportMod drivers race for national and state points.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. Mountain Time Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday. The draw closes at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. both days.
Spectator admission is $10 and kids six and under get in free. Pit passes are $20.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and an open practice runs from 7-10 p.m. Friday, May 26. General admission is free while pit passes are $20. Food and beverages following in the pit area are provided by Kendall’s Kountry Meat Market.
