Masoner scores first IMCA Stock Car win

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (July 10) – A strong field of race cars checked in to race at U.S. 36 Raceway on July 10. A mix of new and return winners in 2020 made for an entertaining night. With a dominating performance, Carson Masoner picked up his first career win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. One week after letting one slip away late, Masoner drove away from the field to pick up the win and celebrate in victory lane. Brad Derry moved up to finish second after starting 10th. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars saw a new face in victory lane as Kenny Potter earned his first win of the season. Block bags $1,000 IMCA Modified payday at Outagamie

(July 10) – Forty-eight IMCA Modifieds were in the house Friday at Outagamie Speedway and it was Wyatt Block bagging the $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying win. Block jumped to the lead from his outside front row starting spot while Jason Ebert and Josh Long waged a hefty battle for the runner-up position. Ebert was finally able to dispose of Long on lap 12 and set his sights on Block. As the laps clicked by, Ebert began to close but the lead Block had built up was too much. Block cruised to his first feature win of the season to score the rich payday. With 31 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars in action, it was a pair of former IMCA national champions starting on the front row of the $700 to-win contest as Rod Snellenberger and Benji LaCrosse brought the field to the green. Rust, Reynolds among Marshalltown winners

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 10) – Joel Rust was the $1,000 IMCA Modified winner Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Tim Ward wasted no time in getting to the front from his second row starting position, sweeping to the lead by lap three after going topside. Ward continued his run at the front of the pack and stretched his lead. However, a caution at lap 10 tightened the field and by this time the 12th starting Rust had made his way into second. When the race restarted, it was a close fought battle between the two until Rust, the defending Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational winner, took command at lap 15. From there on it was Rust out in front the rest of the way to the checkers and the win. Ward had to be content with the runner-up spot. Tom Berry Jr. came from 17th to finish third, fourth was Kollin Hibdon and Ethan Braaksma hard-charged from starting 22nd to complete the top five. Richardson tops CJ Speedway Stock feature

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 10) – A great field of drivers packed the infield at CJ Speedway on a beautiful Friday night for racing on July 10. The racing action was excellent all night on a perfectly prepared race track thanks to Larry Richardson. Twenty-one drivers took the green in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and the Stock Cars lived up to their nickname of The Class Too Tough To Tame as fans were treated to three- and four-wide racing throughout the feature. Howard Gordon Jr. led early before Shane Richardson was able to break out of a pack of contenders to take the lead. Richardson held off the constant challenges by David Brandies in the late going to score the win by a slim margin. Brandies took second ahead of Jason Cook. Cody Staley led the caution-free Mach-1 Sport Compact feature flag to flag. Staley held off one of Eastern Iowa’s strongest 4-cylinder drivers in Jake Benischek for the win. IMCA extends offset nose compliance deadline to 2021

VINTON, Iowa – IMCA has extended the deadline for Modified and Northern SportMod drivers with offset nosepieces to comply with divisional rules from Aug. 14 to opening night of the 2021 race season. “With the shortened racing season and unanticipated volume of Modifieds and Northern SportMods this impacts, we feel it is in the best interest of our members in these divisions to extend the deadline,” stated IMCA President Brett Root. “These repairs are time consuming and can be costly. Because we do not believe it is a performance enhancing issue, we will extend the deadline and focus on notifying drivers we see competing with these cars.” “We will add wording to the 2021 rules for both divisions so there will be no confusion or doubt where the nosepiece must be and that will be centered on the race car,” he added. 2020 Harris Clash is coming to IMCA TV

We are extremely pleased to announce the LEGENDARY Harris Clash has been added to the 2020 IMCA TV schedule. The Harris Clash started in 1992 with Kelly Shryock winning the first event. The race was then held at Webster City, Boone and Harlan, Iowa. In 1996, the Clash was moved to Knoxville. This allowed racers to compete at the famed half-mile on a level playing field, as the Clash was the only Modified race held there every year. The Harris Clash quickly became an IMCA must-win event for all Modified competitors. Kelly Shryock, Bill Davis, Kyle Strickler and Greg Metz are all two-time winners of the Harris Clash in the Modified division. Fellow RaceSaver drivers help King get second Southern United Sprint feature win

CLEVELAND, Texas (July 4) – Daniel King had his quick thinking crew to thank for his first Southern United Sprints feature win of the season. He had his competition to thank for his second. King led all 25 laps of Saturday’s IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Lawanda Cogburn Scorekeeper Memorial at 105 Speedway after breaking in hot laps and borrowing a driveshaft from Kent Lewis Sr. Lewis, Trey Schmidt and a host of King’s fellow drivers helped him get back on track for the heat. Johnson Memorial for Northern SportMods is Friday at Murray County

SLAYTON, Minn. – Murray County Speedway hosts its inaugural Brycen Johnson Memorial on Friday, July 10, paying $1,541 to win and a minimum of $241 to start the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main event. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts are also on the card at Slayton. There is no entry fee and pit passes are $30.
