Fueled up again, Mosher wins first IMCA Stock Car feature since 2006

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (April 27, 2022) – Sid Mosher’s 16-year absence from victory lane ended on opening night at The New Raceway Park. Mosher battled Travis Barker early and then outdueled Jason Ward following a late restart to win the April 24 IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. The checkers were his first since Mosher’s five-win campaign in 2006. “When I took a break after that, it was always with the idea I would get back into racing. Kings, Thunderbowl, Merced all prepped for May 2-7 IMCA Central California Clash dates

HANFORD, Calif. (April 26, 2022) – Three IMCA divisions fill the card each of six nights in the May 2-7 Central California Clash. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility each night, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods vie for $750 to win and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $600 to win. The Clash is at Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds in Hanford on Monday and Tuesday, May 2 and 3; at Tulare Thunderbowl Raceway Wednesday and Thursday, May 4 and 5; and at Merced Speedway Friday and Saturday, May 6 and 7. Coups for Rea, Sanders at Cottage Grove

(April 23, 2022) – After a few weeks of inclement weather, Cottage Grove Speedway finally returned to racing on Saturday, with Paul Rea and Isaac Sanders earning IMCA laurels. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature started with Rea seizing the lead. He had to deal with four cautions which kept everyone else close. On the fourth and final restart on lap 18, Jake Mayden tried to seize the coveted P1 position. Mayden obtained the lead briefly but Rea counterattacked to reclaim the position and went on to win the race and earn his second victory in 2022. (April 23, 2022) – After last week’s Icebreaker Challenge was canceled, this week’s Start Your Engines presented by A1 Iron and Empire Fence program at Eagle Raceway could have been branded the Windbreaker Challenge. The strong southerly winds didn’t seem to keep many fans from showing up, however. Those who came saw 180 cars filling the pits and providing some really great racing all night. IMCA adds to list of approved connecting rods for Hobby Stocks, SportMods, Stock Cars

VINTON, Iowa (April 25, 2022) – With demand depleting supply, drivers in four IMCA divisions will now be allowed to compete with OEM replacement connecting rods produced by Eagle and Scat. “The supply of currently approved connecting rods for Hobby Stocks, both SportMod divisions and Stock Cars has largely been depleted,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “We researched additional rods that meet our rule interpretation that are affordable and can be identified by visual inspection. The Eagle FSI and Scat Pro Series rods do just that.” “Racers and engine builders have contacted us and asked us to consider adding these to the list of rods approved for use in IMCA,” he continued. “We want everyone on the same page. Duke is RaceSaver Sprint king at Hagerstown

(April 23, 2022) – After winning his heat race, Ken Duke raced hard all feature taking the lead with four laps to go and going on to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature win at Hagerstown Speedway. Twenty cars were on hand for the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and Virginia Sprint Series co-sanctioned event as the red clay oval was perfectly smooth sticky and dust free. The feature lined up with Scott Lutz and Chris Humblet pacing to green with Lutz out first and Duke in with the rest of the field dicing for a spot. Lutz and Duke stayed on the bottom as 10th starting Jerald Harris found a high line to his liking and was a rocket as he made it to third by lap two. Late pass nets Fraser victory at Antioch

By Don Martin II ANTIOCH, Calif. (April 23, 2022) – Tommy Fraser won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main event Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. Fraser made his move racing to the white flag and brought home the victory. Nick Zapatero charged into the lead at the start, followed by Fraser and Mark Garner. They ran that way for several laps before a yellow flag waved for a tangle involving four other cars. Zapatero led Fraser and Kc Keller on the restart. Zapatero was doing a good job of leading the way but didn’t have a very good lap 18. A lap later, Zapatero pushed a little bit in turn three and Fraser went down low in turn four to grab the lead. Zapatero ended up spinning, and Fraser won ahead of Keller, Andrew Pearce, Mark Garner and Jonathan Hagio.

Points racing begins at Off Road Speedway

For drivers who are pursuing IMCA points in the four divisions contested at Off Road Speedway, the season began in earnest during a windy but competitive Saturday night slate of races. After an extended absence from racing to deal with an ailing back, Tejay Mielke was denied an immediate trip to victory lane in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature when Cameron Wilkinson snuck inside in turn two then, after the pair navigated turns three and four nearly even, edged Mielke by .12 of a second at the finish line. It was all Kent could do to climb behind the wheel of his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car for Saturday’s AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series feature at Creek County Speedway. Apparently his lunch did not agree with him. “Yes, we did not feel good for sure,” said Kent after winning Saturday’s 30-lap feature. “I had some bad pizza for lunch apparently and I spent the evening being sick.” Despite not feeling 100 percent Kent went the distance to become the sixth different winner this season. After wet weather forced the delay of Sunday’s season opener, IMCA Sunoco Late Models will join the show Sunday, May 1 for the first Super Sunday event of the season at The Bullring.
