Laney stars in Central California Clash IMCA Modified main at Tulare

TULARE, Calif. (May 4, 2022) – He’s not a fan of the film franchise but the force was with Cody Laney in the Central California Clash feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds on Star Wars Night Wednesday evening. Laney rules Central California Clash night two at Keller

By Ben Deatherage HANFORD, Calif. (May 3, 2022) – Cody Laney reigned in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, on night two of the Central California Clash at Keller Auto Speedway. Racing like he was shot out of a cannon, Laney was flawless on each of the long green flag runs punctuated by five stoppages Tuesday night. After the third restart, he was joined at the front by Monday night winner Bobby Hogge. Hogge tried to overtake Laney once the field got going, but the leader kept him in check. The last two cautions came with just a couple of laps to go, setting up a green, white, checkered finish. Hogge had his hands full with Dalton Houghton, which allowed Laney to set sail from the rest of the pack and take the $1,000 win. Sites on target in NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series opener at Skyline

(April 30, 2022) – After a solid season in 2021, the off-season was not kind to Eddie Sites and his brother, Close Racing Supply NY-Penn IMCA Modified Series presented by Precision Hydraulic & Oil defending champion Brad Sites. Hogge opens Central California Clash with victory at Hanford

(May 2, 2022) – A veteran and a youngster ran 1-2 in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event at Keller Auto Speedway Monday, opening night of the Central California Clash. Bobby Hogge cruised to the $1,000 checkers for his fourth win of the season and career 98th in the division while Jake Pike, the Shaw Race Cars Western Region rookie of the year just three years ago, navigated his way to runner-up honors. The main event began with a great battle between Troy Foulger and Hogge, champion of the 2020 version of the now rebranded Speedweek. Foulger had the initial advantage coming across the stripe, but that lap was negated due to caution. On the second attempt, it was Hogge leading the charge. Hogge had no real issues at the point as he piloted the Paul Guglielmoni-fielded entry around the track. May 8 new date for Benton County Speedway opener

VINTON, Iowa (May 2, 2022) – The third time will hopefully be the charm to get the weekly racing season underway at Benton County Speedway. The first two attempts at a season opener were washed out by Mother Nature, leaving the twice-delayed event now scheduled for this Sunday, May 8. Whitmire is Saturday winner at I-37

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 30, 2022) – After a two week hiatus, it was time to fire up the engines on the ¼ mile semi-banked I-37 Speedway dirt oval Saturday and Tanner Whitmire was back in victory lane after a lengthy hiatus of his own. At the start of the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main it was Rick Green with the lead chased by Jared Maupin, Whitmire, Ryan Doyon and Chris Morris. Robert Liese spun to infield and collected Marlin Samford as he tried to pull back on track. On the restart, Maupin tried the high side on Green with Whitmire looking to go three-wide for the lead. Whitmire took second and began to look low on Green while Morris got by Maupin for third. ‘Bullet’ Bill Rice tops the Mountain

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (April 30, 2022) – Bill Rice held off a charging Caleb Harris for his first Virginia Sprint Series win of the year, where the mountain roars, Shenandoah Speedway. Jerald Harris won the trophy dash before it was off to the Saturday IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Rice and Harris paced to green with Rice out first but by lap two Bill Mullis got by for the lead. All was good up front until lap seven when Mullis ended his night against the turn three fence after contact. Rice took off again and held off a fast closing Caleb Harris at the line. At the strip it was Rice, Caleb Harris, and French Grimes. The Virginia Sprint Series will next head to Dixieland Speedway in Elizabeth City, N.C,. on Friday, May 13 for the first Fast Friday race of the year.

$3,000 is top prize at I-30’s IMCA STARS Mod Lite Short Track Nationals

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 2, 2022) – IMCA STARS Mod Lites run for shares of a galaxy-sized purse at their Short Track Nationals May 6 and 7 at I-30 Speedway. Winner of the fourth annual event, presented by Bumper to Bumper and sanctioned by IMCA for the first time, earns $3,000 with a minimum of $300 paid to start the feature. Top three finishers in Friday night heat races earn $50, $30 and $20, respectively, with winners advancing to the main event grid. Last-chance qualifying races and the feature are on Saturday. Non-qualifier pay is $150. Yoshimura bonuses of $250, $150 and $100 will be paid to the top three finishing eligible drivers. SOMERTON, Ariz. (May 2, 2022) – A track champion and long-time IMCA driver will be remembered this Saturday, May 7 at Cocopah Speedway’s third annual Mike Corning Memorial. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,044 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility that evening.
