Jones has fans buzzing at Bumble Bee Nationals

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 23) – A season-high 93 IMCA entries visited the oval on night number three of rac­ing this season at Kossuth County Speedway. Jake O’Neil came from back in the pack to win the IMCA Modified feature after early runs at the front by Aaron Benson and then Kelly Shryock. O’Neil took the lead with five laps to go and never looked back. Jeremy Mills was the runner-up with Shryock taking third.  Jeramie Faber was the early leader in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature before Alec Fett grabbed the lead after a caution on the third lap. By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 31) – The IMCA Modified feature went green, white, checkered as Ryan Ruter drew the pole position and cruised to the Thursday win in front of the season’s biggest crowd at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona. Ethan Dotson ended up in second place and Ben Kraus was third, followed by Austin Wolf and Mat Hollerich. Chad Palmer paced the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars after taking the lead following a lap six restart. Bryce Sommerfeld held onto the front spot after a couple cautions in winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main while the only thing slowing George Nordman’s drive to the Karl Chevrolet North­ern SportMod checkers was a lap nine yellow. Oliver Monson was never challenged in racing to his second Mach-1 Sport Compact victory this season at Algona.

SPENCER, Iowa – Plenty of cold, hard cash will be paid out during the Aug. 2-7 IMCA Hot Summer Nights Series.  Many of the best IMCA drivers from across the Midwest and the nation will follow IMCA Speedweek, traveling to five different tracks in Iowa and Minnesota. “There’s been a lot of interest from track officials and drivers in a tour-type Speedweek and the Hot Summer Nights theme seemed particularly appropriate this year,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Speedweek will give a lot of drivers the opportunity to race for more money at both established IMCA tracks and specials.”  A $5,000 main event for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars headlines the Monday night opener at Clay County Fair Speedway.
