Thomas County Fair Races feature five IMCA divisions 

COLBY, Kan. – A check for $1,000 and a spot on the ballot for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational go to the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature winner at the Friday, July 31 Thomas County Free Fair Races. A minimum of $125 will be paid to start the Modified main event. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both for $500 to win. All applicable points, including local track points, will be awarded in all four divisions. There is no entry fee. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. at Colby. The grandstand opens at 6:30 p.m., hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 8 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30. Frontier Days features two $1,000 to win IMCA Modified races 

LOVELOCK, Nev. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win on both nights of Lovelock Speedway’s third annual City Auto Parts/NAPA Know How 40 special this Friday and Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 1. Both Frontier Days events are qualifiers for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded each night. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, military personnel and students ages 11-15, and free for kids 10 and under. A family package (two adults and two children ages 11-15) is $30, with additional children admitted for half price. Pit passes are $25. Modified car and driver is $60. Crawford, Hansen, Sanger inducted into Independence Hall of Fame July 18 

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – Iowa racing legends Gary Crawford, Curt Hansen and Ed Sanger will be inducted into the Independence Motor Speedway Hall of Fame this Saturday, July 18. The induction coincides with the 50th anniversary season of auto racing at Independence Motor Speedway, where horses first raced on the dirt track before stock cars roared into action on a half-century on Saturday nights. An autograph session will be held honoring the 2015 Hall of Fame inductees from 5-6 p.m. be­hind the Buchanan County Fairgrounds grandstands. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. The three Late Model Stock Car Hall of Fame inductees will be honored during a break in racing action. Inductees will be permanently honored with a plaque on display at Independence Motor Speedway. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win Friday at Marshalltown 

By Jeremy Fox MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Marshalltown Speedway will roar to life this Friday, July 17 at 7:30 p.m. with extra money on the line and a draw/re-draw format for the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. The Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win and $100 to start in their 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invita­tional ballot qualifying feature event. Added money is also up for grabs as the Hobby Stocks chase $400 to win and $50 to start on Friday night. There is no entry fee and the pit pass is the standard $22. Also on the card will be mod lites, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. All sanctioned divisions racing for all applicable points.

Davenport Speedway falls to rain

DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 26) – Track officials have canceled the weekly race program sched­uled tonight (Friday) at Davenport Speedway because of rain. Next Friday will bring the Fourth of July-Street Stock Clash and $2,000 awaits the winner of the 50-lap main event. All other classes will be in weekly points action. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport, Iowa. Pit gates will open next Friday at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., with hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Rain and resulting flooding conditions have resulted in cancellation of the June 26 race program at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines. The $3,000 to win Jim’s Johns Late Model Futurity is to be rescheduled.
