Reisdorfer, Lonneman score first North Star Tour wins at Murray County

SLAYTON, Minn. (May 22) – Hometown heroes David Reisdorfer and Chad Lonneman had them dancing in the streets Friday night in Adrian. Both drivers won for the first time in their respective careers when the IMCA North Star Tour opened at Murray County Speedway. Reisdorfer started from the pole and led the distance in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Dan Mackenthun tried to stay close but had to settle for second. Levi Feltman was third. Lonneman also drew the inside row one start. Cleveland, Crompe top IMCA Modified mains at Santa Maria Spring Nationals

SANTA MARIA, Calif. (May 23-24) – Duane Cleveland led every lap on Saturday, Christopher Crompe got the lead back on the last lap Sunday and both drivers earned $1,200 for their IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins at Santa Maria Raceway’s Budweiser Spring Nationals. Cleveland made the long tow from northern California worth his while, starting from the pole and avoiding a late-race hiccup when a lapped car got sideways just ahead of him. Josh Vogt made up ground as Cleveland ran in traffic but had to settle for second. Roger Holder completed the top three finishers on opening night. Another 25-lapper on Sunday saw Crompe in and out of the lead before the final circuit heroics. Crompe led the first seven laps before giving way to Danny Lauer. Dailey delivers IMCA Modified win at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 21) – Eric Dailey sped to the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory his second of the season and career 65th, Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway Dailey drew the pole and took the win ahead of hard charger Jeremy Mills and Jesse Hoeft. Rob Hughes was the cash dash winner. Craig Berhow topped the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, holding off Kevin Opheim and Chad Palmer. Nick Meyer’s early season success continued as he captured the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Meyer held off a hard charging Jared Boemeister and Cody Knecht. Brandon Nielsen sped from ninth starting to first finishing in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Second was Shannon Anderson and Chanse Hollatz was third. Hancock County has trio of two-time winners

By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (May 23) – Three drivers found the winner’s circle for the second time this season at Hancock County Speedway on Saturday night. David Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Andrew Borchardt in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Devin Jones in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts all earned repeat checkers. Smith bested Heath Tulp and Kevin Opheim for Stock Car honors. Doug Wickman and Scott Dobel completed the Hobby Stock top three behind Borchardt while Megan Sandvig was second and Kaytee DeVries third in the Sport Compact main event. Troy Swearingen topped the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified field ahead of Austin Wolf and Jesse Hoeft. The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods had 21 entries and the area’s hottest driver Nick Meyer won for the second time in three nights. Doug Cook placed second with Ben Schultze third.

Rookie races to IMCA Modified win at Electric City

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (May 23) – It was a night for rookies Saturday at Electric City Speedway. Kory Wermling had his work cut out for him after starting ninth but raced to the front and won the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature. After racing side-by-side with Joey Price for several laps, Wermling held off Paul Leach to secure the checkers. Tommy Bush looked strong until a run-in with some iron bent a trailing arm. He still finished fifth behind rookie Zack Olson.

Wolla, Berg are IMCA winners on record setting night at Dacotah Speedway

MANDAN, N.D. (May 22) – Records are meant to be broken. That was the case Friday as 137 drivers checked in for a regular night of racing at Dacotah Speedway. It was a new track record for the track that boasts the highest number of IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds in North Dakota. Jason Wolla picked up his second straight Modified victory, leading from the second lap to the checkers. Aaron Turnbull reeled in Shawn Strand for second as the frontrunners caught the tail end of the field. Lapped traffic slowed Strand as Turnbull drove by with three laps to go. Turnbull ran out of time, however, and had to settle for second. Jason Berg led the final two circuits in winning the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event. Chase Schlafmann was second and Nic West was third. Despite the record car count, the final checkered flag waved shortly 10:10 p.m., meaning just three hours and 10 minutes were needed to complete the entire show.

Smith leads Sprints green to checkered at I-90

By Steve Zwemke HARTFORD, S.D. (May 23) – Colin Smith led every lap in winning his career first Coffee Cup IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature Saturday at I-90 Speedway. Smith had the field covered for all 20 laps of the nightcap in just his third I-90 Speedway start. Jeff Edgington held off Casey Abbas for a second place finish.

Kay becomes first to repeat with Deery checkers at Boone

BOONE, Iowa (May 25) – Justin Kay became the first repeat winner this season in the Deery Brothers Summer Series, on the night Richie Gustin nearly raced to his first IMCA Late Model tour victory. Gustin caught the defending series champ on the white flag lap Monday at Boone Speedway and had the edge as the front pair charged down the backstretch. The yellow flag was thrown for a spun car in the upcoming set of turns, however, and Kay got the front spot back for the restart as the leader of the last scored lap. Jeff Aikey caught Gustin for second but couldn’t challenge Kay, who topped the green, white, checkered finish by two car lengths. The $3,000 win was the series career 11th for Kay, who also banked the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing prize. Tyler Droste and Ray Guss Jr. completed the top five and point leader Andy Nezworski ended in sixth. Ashley collects Cottage Grove Speedway checkers

(May 23) – Jimmy Owen made him work for it but Gene Ashley picked up his third Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature win of the season Saturday at Cottage Grove Speedway. The front pair battled hard, swapping the lead several times before Ashley secure the spot in the late stages of the race.

Sites wins, Fleming is second after early Empire State Series spin at Black Rock

By Steven Ovens DUNDEE, N.Y. (May 22) – With increased pay on the line, Eddie Sites made the most of his run Friday night to pick up the Empire State Series checkers at Black Rock Speedway. The two-time IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified tour champion led the last 11 of 25 circuits in earning $500, plus lap money, and his career seventh series victory. Chris Fleming, another former Empire State Series champion, set the fast pace the first three laps, restarted at the back of the field and charged through the field to finish second. Fleming and rookie Sparky Hills brought the field to the green flag. Fleming led before very uncharacteristically spinning in turn three but heads-up driving allowed the 23-car field to avoid him.
