Dowell tops Dodge City Stocks

DODGE CITY, Kan. (July 24) – Randy Dowell made a late move around race-long leader Trevor Schmidt to capture his first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win at Dodge City Raceway Park.

Schmidt led from the outset after starting on the pole but soon had Dowell and Brett Copeland nipping at his heels in the non-stop 15-lapper.

Dowell’s persistence paid off, as he slipped under Schmidt exiting turn two on the 14th round and held the point the final lap-and-a-half to post the win.  Schmidt crossed the stripe a close second with Copeland third.

In Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified action, Bucklin’s Clay Sellard rallied past Jack Kirchoff on the high side for the point at the midway point of the 20-lapper and checked out for his fourth DCRP score of the year.

Dwayne Dechant extended the streak of consecutive different winners in IMCA SportMod action to 11 races dating back to last year’s season finale with his 20-lap triumph.

After finally breaking through for his first IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock win at DCRP last Saturday night, Will Bauer made it two in a row by topping Friday night’s 15-lap feature event.

Following a red flag stoppage just one lap in for Reagan Sellard’s wild ride down the backstretch, Bauer battled past early leader Travis McLemore seven laps in and held on the rest of the way to take the win ahead of Tobby Schield and McLemore.
