Kay wins again at Davenport 

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 15) – Justin Kay remained unbeaten in Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model features at Davenport Speedway this season. Kay claimed his third point victory in as many races this year on Friday night. Kay started tenth and led the final ten laps en route to the win. Spencer Diercks led the first four laps from the pole with Joe Zrostlik taking over on lap five. Zrostlik continued to lead until lap 16, when he pulled off the track. Kay led the rest of the way to the checkers. Diercks held on for second with Rob Toland taking third. Chuck Hanna and Andy Nezworski completed the top five. Matt Werner made it two in a row in the Eriksen’s IMCA Modified feature. Career first IMCA Stock win comes Sunday for Winkler 

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 10) – Jerry Winkler drove to Coors Light IMCA Stock Car career win num­ber one Sunday at Seymour Raceway Park, beating Rod Snellenberger to the finish line by a mat­ter of inches. The Stocks had a bonus field of 34 entries with 22 starting the main event. Winkler put his car in the top spot after the opening lap and opened a lead early as the field sorted out behind him. Trent Nolan secured second with Jerry Leary, Dan Nelson, Snellenberger and Larry Karcz Jr. behind. By lap seven, Winkler was out front with Nolan in a tight battle with Snellenberger, Karcz, Kyle Frederick and Leary. A lap nine caution erased Winkler’s lead and bunched the field. Snellenbeger moved into the runner up spot after the restart with Nolan, Frederick, Karcz and Travis Van Straten right behind. Lucas Lamberies was the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod winner.

Berry bags Dacotah Speedway feature win

MANDAN, N.D. (July 8) – After gaining the lead on the 10th circuit, Hank Berry led to the finish of Friday’s Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature at Dacotah Speedway. Josh Rogotski grabbed the initial lead but later got too high off turn four, allowing Tim Perkins and Berry to slip by. They raced side by side for the lead until Berry completed the pass on lap 10. Berry started to pull away as Spencer Wilson passed Rogotski for third, bringing Ricky Thornton Jr. with him. Wilson and Thornton caught Perkins for second and passed him with five to go. Perkins fell into the clutches of Shawn Strand and Cody Laney. Perkins couldn’t hang on and fin­ished sixth behind Laney. Strand, who started 16th, finished fourth. Thornton passed Wilson at the finish line to finish se­cond. Josh Roehrich won the time-shortened feature for Mach-1 Sport Compacts.

Konnor Wilinski wins first at Shawano

(July 9) – Racing for only the third time at the track at which he grew up turning wrenches for his father Jerry, Konnor Wilinski scored the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win on the sixth annual Racing For a Reason night at the Shawano Speedway. Once again this year, the track set forth to raise money for childhood cancer awareness and once again proved successful. Rob Charapata led lap one before a caution came out for debris on the track. On the ensuing lap, Wilinski made an inside pass for the lead. On lap three, Matt Oreskovich moved into the second spot and by lap five Joel Seegert raced his way to third and looked to be a contender.  As Wilinski led, Seegert moved up to second on lap seven. Ward wins Raceway Park Stock Car feature

By Bob Coney JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 10) – Five drivers raced to victory lane Sunday at Raceway Park. Jason Ward took his first local checkered flag of the season in the Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Car feature.  Ward took the lead on lap three and held off Chris Mills for the second half of the race, with Mills chasing the outside line while Ward stayed glued to the inside. Aaron Cain had a strong run for third followed by Zach Ankrum in his best performance of the season. The Total Motors IMCA Modified feature saw Jim Cole taking the win. Cole went past early leader Bob Moore on the sixth lap, but the excitement started when Ricky Stephan moved into second with 10 laps remaining. Stephan hounded Cole with both fighting for inside position entering the turns. Cole never gave up that inside line en route to the victory followed closely by Stephan, with Moore and Jason Schneiders rounding out the top four. Bubak wins URSS feature at Lexington 

LEXINGTON, Neb. (July 10) – Jake Bubak made the trek to Lexington Raceway and picked up his first United Rebel Sprint Series win of the season on Sunday. Brian Herbert taking the early lead and showed the way with Bubak drawing closer each lap. Bubak finally got around for the top spot on lap seven, then began building onto his advantage following a lap eight restart. Luke Cranston headed the pursuit and was close behind Bubak by lap 13. Lap 20 saw the caution wave for the last time and set up a five-lap dash for the win. Tyler Drueke slipped past Cranston for the runner-up spot after the restart. Cranston, Jed Werner and Jeremy Huish made up the rest of the top five. Schoenberger, Rohleder win at RPM Speedway

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (July 9) – Jason Schoenberger and Kyle Rohleder were first-time winners this sea­son at RPM Speedway on Saturday evening. Schoenberger edged Jason Rogers by about a foot in the closest feature finish on the night in the Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car feature. Shaylon Holloway led the first 2 laps, then was passed by Cody Zimmerman. His lead was short-lived as Trevor Schmidt took over the top spot the next lap. Schmidt continued to lead through lap 11 before Holloway went back in front. Schoenberger took command on lap 15 and led to the fin­ish as he held off Rogers at the flagstand for the win. Nolan Remus was third. Rohleder took the lead on lap two from Marty Clark and led the remaining distance in the Gib’s Auto Supply IMCA Modified feature. Bushore, Rudolph get first Boone wins of 2016 

BOONE, Iowa (July 9) – Two drivers found their way to victory lane for the first time this season at Boone Speedway on Saturday night. Joel Bushore captured his first win of the season in the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified division while Aaron Rudolph made it win number one in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Bushore got to the lead by lap two and never let the cautions deter his march to the checkers.  Jon Snyder took second place, Russ Dickerson was third, Mike Van Genderen, who had won the last two features, was fourth and Tony Cox finished fifth.  Bushore won for the first time this year at the speedway. Andersen scores big win at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 9) – Shelly Andersen was the NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod winner dur­ing the Freedom Fest program Saturday at Eagle Raceway. This is Andersen’s first season back in the car after taking two years off to give birth to her daugh­ter Lexi. “The car felt really good tonight. Roger Sluka and Bruce Haskell do wonders with it. My cousin Jessie passed away Tuesday and I talked to my aunt on the way out to the races tonight,” she said. “This win is dedicated to Jessie and my family.” Jack Dover made a fantastic run in the RaceSaver IMCA EMI Sprint Car main after coming through the B and moving from his 16th starting spot to take the checkers. Brauns goes back to back at West Liberty

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (July 9) – Jonathan Brauns won his first-ever iWireless IMCA Late Model Feature at West Liberty Raceway one week ago. Now Brauns has two wins in as many weeks as he bested the 25-lap feature Saturday night. Brauns led the caution-free race flag to flag in scoring an impressive win over Andy Eckrich and Chad Holladay. Dakota Hayden took advantage of a late-race caution in the Performance Concepts IMCA Modi­fied feature and shot past race leader Matt Bodman and went on to score the win. Kurt Kile was able to get to the finish line just ahead of Bodman. Tim Plummer scored a very impressive win in the Weikert Iron & Metal IMCA Northern SportMod division. Plummer used all of the smooth racing surface in crossing the finish line ahead of Dalton Si­monsen and Troy Phillpott.
