Osborn leads at Lexington 

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (Aug. 28) – Colton Osborn got the best of his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modi­fied foes on season championship night Sunday at Lexington Raceway. Osborn and Anthony Roth were in a see-saw battle during the early laps. Osborn was able to gain a little breathing room and never looked back to earn the main event victory. Roth was the runner-up while Scott Smith ended in third. Cole Egge finally punched through for a feature win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod divi­sion. Egge has led the most laps in numerous features this season but it was on the final night of competition that that young gun was able to lead all of the circuits to capture his first win in the division after starting on the outside of the first row. National championship contender Daniel Gottschalk did everything he could in hopes of catching Egge but was forced to settle for second. Steve Kempt scored the third place finish. Williamson is $1,000 winner at Willamette 

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (Aug. 27) – Jesse Williamson’s first Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win of the season at Willamette Speedway was worth $1,000. The opening laps of Saturday’s main event were pretty competitive but once Williamson got to the front he was remained there unchallenged. The victory landed him on the ballot for the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Schram Brothers Excavating ponied up the extra purse money.

LaCrosse is king of the ring at Oshkosh 

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Aug. 26) – Benji LaCrosse clinched King of the Ring honors with his Friday Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature win at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway. The third leg of King of the Ring saw Marcus Yarie and LaCrosse tied for the series lead.  Both won their heat races, and started the main event in row two. It was LaCrosse who made the early move and took the lead after the opening lap with Dan Roedl, Yarie, Jeremy Christians, Tim Robbins and Brian Drexler behind.  LaCrosse hooked mid­way up the track and Roedl was running the outside line.  The rest of the field was bunched two and three-wide behind. Yarie moved up to second on lap four and was just behind the leader. A lone caution appeared on lap nine with LaCrosse and Yarie still leading the way. Roedl was holding third while Tim Lemi­rande was the quickest car in the field having moved from his 16th starting spot into fourth for the restart. Pospisil paces Sport Compacts at Off Road

(Aug. 27) – Plenty of action could be found on the track Saturday at Off Road Speedway, starting with Shannon Pospisil’s Mach-1 Sport Compact win. Pospisil moved into the lead during the third lap while coming out of turn four and survived a green, white, checkered finish following the race’s only caution. Ramsey Meyer, who finished second to Pospisil Thursday in Columbus, did so again Saturday night while Codie Mielke took third. Norfolk Catholic High School senior Gage Koch won for the second time in his career, leading all 15 laps of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature. Koch, who began racing junior hornets at the age of 12, got his first Hobby Stock win last season, said he “liked the high side tonight, and the car was set up perfect for it … it just felt really good.” Jim Kimmel and TeJay Mielke finished in second- and third-place, respectively. Midweek checkers pay big for DeYoung

AUBURN, Mich. (Aug. 24) – Myron DeYoung raced his way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and picked up a bonus doing it at Tri-City Motor Speedway’s midweek special. DeYoung earned $1,225 for his Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified victory and picked up bonus money on top of that check for ending A.J. Ward’s winning streak. The IMCA Modifieds had 28 drivers check in for the opportunity to win big money by winning their 40-lap feature. Todd Matheson and Chaz Pray brought the field to the initial green flag. Matheson set the early pace before Matt Szecsodi reeled him in and made the pass by lap nine. Defending champion DeYoung eventually overtook Szecsodi just past the halfway point of the race. The 12th starting Ward was having difficulty getting to the front but by the closing laps found himself in the top five. Reed in right place at right time for PASS win at Clinton County

MILL HALL, Pa. (Aug. 26) – Reed Thompson was running third at the right time in Friday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Tylor Cochran had moved right on the back of leader Scott Lutz with two circuits to go in the 20-lapper for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars. The white flag was out and going into the second turn, the two made contact with Lutz rolling and Cochran spinning. The incident handed the lead over to Thompson, who hung on through a green, white, checkered finish. “I do not like to win races that way. We did not have the car for those two, they were quicker than us,” he said during the post-race interview. “I lost my good car at the beginning of the year and we have been fighting with this one to get it going. Reeser sprints to Port Royal checkers

PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Aug. 27) – Once he got to the front, there was no catching Tyler Reeser in Saturday’s Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Port Royal Speedway. Drew Ritchey drove from his fourth starting spot into the lead on the fourth lap of the 18-lap main event for IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Cars, overtaking Scott Ellerman for control. Ritchey threatened to run away for his first-ever oval victory but a caution bunched the field and placed Jeff Miller and Reeser on his tail for the restart. Reeser pounced on Miller for second at the new green and then blasted past Ritchey for control a lap later. Reeser then pulled away to his second win of the year at the track. 
Miller then also got around Ritchey for second.

Deeke, Maas among winners at Eagle

(Aug. 27) – Championship Night at Eagle Raceway saw five-year class veteran Dana Deeke win his first local NAPA IMCA Northern SportMod main event. “The track tonight, with the corrections we made, had me very good tonight,” he said. “It was nice and smooth. I really enjoy racing here. The competition is always great.” R.J. Maas was also a first-time winner at Eagle, in the Mountain Dew Kick Start IMCA Sport Com­pacts. “Finally! We had a good track tonight, nice and tacky,” the outside row four starter said. “It was amazing. I started moving up, then when I got to third I started to reel in the 11H (Nick Morris). When he dropped out I started checking the scoreboard to see how many laps were left.” Dustin Andersen topped another Kaplan University IMCA Modified feature. Jason Martin started 12th and finished first in the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature. Chad Fegley was first across the stripe in the Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock main event.

Voss Memorial win worth $1,000 to Zevenbergen  

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 27) – Elijah Zevenbergen led from start to finish to pick up the $1,000 winner’s check at Arlington Raceway’s Joe Voss Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Saturday night. Zevenbergen had strong challenges, first from Chad Schroeder and then from Derek Green. Green suffered a flat tire and went into the work area on the red flag that waved after Adam Re­vier got too high on the backstretch, went over the cushion lost control barrel rolled several times down the track. Revier was OK but his car was damaged. After that restart, the race was all Zevenbergen. Matt Speckman worked behind him but had to settle for second ahead of Dean Cornelius. Green made his way back up to fourth. Wisconsin traveler Shawn Wagner finished fifth, earning the hard charger bonus plus a new front bumper by passing 12 cars. Eckrich tops season championship night feature at Farley 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 26) – Casey’s General Stores presented the season championship races Friday at the Farley Speedway with Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models headlining the night’s racing action. The feature was red flagged following an incident in turn two that saw the cars of Ben Seemann and Becky Roth tip over. Seemann rode out a double flip while Roth came to rest on the side with all four wheels off the ground. Both drivers were OK. When the race took the green on the restart, the race went caution-free to the checkered flag. Andy Eckrich took over the top spot from Kip Siems as the race closed in on the 10-lap mark. Eckrich went on to record the win with Ryan Dolan and Jeff Aikey taking second and third. Eckrich stated in victory lane, “We came up here tonight to try some changes for the Yankee.
