Starting toward the back with no point average, Andersen hung out letting the field sort itself, then began his march to the front. Andersen caught Rick Green, Jamie Campbell and Dillon Tindall near halfway making a four-car fight for the lead. Andersen grabbed the point on lap 13, then survived a couple late restarts to pick up the victory. “The win made the long trip worth it. We had intended to go to a two-day show in Iowa and took vacation time. That got canceled, everything else around us got canceled and the closest IMCA stuff was here in Texas,” Andersen said. “After our original plan, Waco and Kennedale rained out, we looked for another IMCA track and three hours south, here we are. It seemed to pan out for us. We had some bad [Read More]

By Tony Steele PEORIA, Ariz. (April 1) – John Parmeley pulled off the sweep in the Leading Edge IMCA Modifieds Saturday at Canyon Speedway Park, winning his heat race before driving from his sixth starting spot to take the feature win. Parmeley declared himself as the car to beat early on, making his way around leader K.C. Dieckman and driving away from the field. Parmeley held the large advantage through numerous cautions until Jason Noll found himself behind the leader on a restart. Parmeley and Noll escaped the fray with only a handful of laps to go to battle it out for the win. Noll made the first mistake coming to the white flag, allowing Parmeley to get away with the win. James tops IMCA Modified opener at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (March 31) – Six months ago, Bricen James’ future in racing was an unknown. Saturday night, he stood in victory lane after winning the season-opening IMCA Modified feature at Cottage Grove Speedway. Craig Hanson was quick out of the gate and stayed in the lead until Collen Winebarger got past on lap four. Winebarger remained out in front for some time before he bicycled in turns one and two, allowing James to pass him via the inside line. James kept hold of first place but had to master restarts due to several cautions.  James kept all challengers in check and went on to collect the checkered flag.  It was an emotional triumph because six months ago he nearly had a career-ending injury in a Sprint Car last September. John Campos got second, followed by Dustin Cady in third.

He was a little tight and I knew that I had to be there whenever he made a mistake.” “You’ve got to be pretty patient when you run against those Abbey boys. They’re pretty good, every single one of them,” he continued. “They race you clean and I love racing with them.” Devin Burgess led flag-to-flag for the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod victory while Michael Childs started near the back of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field and ended in the winner’s circle.
