Three first-time winners top opening night at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (April 26) – Of the 103 drivers signed in for opening night, three who had never previously won at Independence Motor Speedway ended the evening in victory lane. Joel Callahan redrew the pole position for the 25-lap IMCA Late Model feature and quickly pulled away from the field when the green flag waved. Callahan maintained a straightaway lead over his nearest pursuer despite heavy lapped traffic. Callahan’s lead disappeared when a lap 21 caution flag bunched the field and placed Tyler Bruening on his rear bumper for the ensuing restart. Callahan pulled away when racing resumed, notching his first win on the Independence oval. Bruening finished second ahead of Drew Johnson. P.J. Egbert is fastest in Cotton Bowl Modified main

Egbert added another win to his impressive resume, grabbing the 20-lap IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory Saturday at Cotton Bowl Speedway. Egbert, who charged from his row five starting spot, took over the point from Chase Glick near halfway, then held off Brad Smith in latter stages to get his first win of the season. Whether driving his own car or the Skip Gray-owned Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod, J.J. Jennings has Cotton Bowl Speedway figured out. He gave the rest of the 24-car field all it could handle after getting past Jarrett Roberts, who lead the first few circuits. Once out front Jennings easily outran the competition on every restart building nearly a full straightaway advantage over Kevin Green, Talon Minten and Don Painter at the finish. Hollerich rumbles to first IMCA Modified win in Redline North Star Series opener at Jackson

JACKSON, Minn. (April 26) – Opening night of the third annual Redline Racing Parts North Star Series set the stage for Mat Hollerich’s IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified career-first feature win. The $800 checkers came Saturday at Jackson Speedway. Hollerich started on the pole and checked out on everybody in a 20-lap feature that ran caution-free. “I worked pretty darned hard,” said Hollerich, who steered through lapped traffic to win well ahead of Greg Jacobsen. Roger Nielsen was third, Josh Meyer fourth and Jeff Larson fifth. “I was happy just winning my heat. Then I won the feature,” said Hollerich, now in a GRT ride. “It felt awesome. 141, Luxemburg announce Two Track Challenge Series

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Luxemburg Speedway and 141 Speedway are excited to announce a partnership with the Two Track Challenge Series . This championship will be based on the combined points of both tracks. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will be the participating divisions. The 2014 series will be split into two sessions. The first session will end halfway through the season on June 14. The second session will end on Aug. 29. “We thought this would be a great way to help drivers who already race both tracks. NORFOLK, Neb. – Already boasting a resume that includes a national championship and more than 300 feature wins, Big Daddy Race Cars takes on another partnership role with IMCA this season. The Norfolk, Neb., chassis builder is the new title sponsor of the Northern Region for Hobby Stocks and will furnish a portion of the point fund for top five drivers in official point standings for 2014. “We’d been contacted three or four years ago about giving lap money for the Hobby Stock race of champions at Super Nationals and that was a great way to get the word out about our cars,” owner Dale Bittner said. “The regional sponsorship is another great opportunity. Electric City postpones Spring Roundup to May 2-3

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (April 24) – Electric City Speedway has postponed its season-opening Montana Spring Roundup to next Friday and Saturday, May 2-3. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $500 to win and a minimum of $75 to start in their first appearances in Montana since the mid-1990s. An open practice starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. The Spring Roundup was originally scheduled for this weekend and no change was been made in race day times: Pit gates at Great Falls open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Salina Speedway set for opening night this Friday

Salina Speedway is one of those tracks that spent the off-season working hard to make racing experience better for both the racers and the fans. This Friday night, April 25, all of the hard work in the off season will pay off as the first of 24 dates kicks off just after 7:15 p.m. Salina Speedway hosts the best of the best when it comes to dirt track racing on a weekly basis. BST Sprint Series opens this weekend at Phillips County, I-76

HOLYOKE, Colo. (April 23) – IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars make their Colorado debut this weekend, with BST Series dates at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke and I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan. Racing starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Phillips County. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the card . Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids and free for five and under.
