DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 4) – Four Fridays of exciting racing action are planned for the Davenport Speedway in the month of June.
The month starts out this Friday, June 6, when the regular weekly racing program is joined by an appearance of the Midwest Jalopies. Race fans get a chance to re-live the racing past as the vintage racing coupes compete on the quarter-mile oval. The night’s racing action is sponsored by Kile Motorsports.
Friday, June 13, brings the SportMod Challenge and $2,000 will go to the winner of the 50-lap main event in the growing Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. This is the second year for the SportMod Challenge race at Davenport. The best IMCA SportMod drivers in eastern Iowa and western Illinois are expected to be on hand for the event. Weekly point races will be held in all other classes.
Mid-Season Championship Night is Friday, June 20. All line-ups will be done in the draw/redraw format with the point leader in each class offered the back row challenge for a chance to earn extra money. Mid-Season Championship night is sponsored by JC Dubil.
Friday June 27 is the second Kids’ Night of the 2014 season. Children 12 and under get in free when accompanying a paid adult. After the weekly racing program, kids will get the chance to race their bikes on the quarter-mile oval.
Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
