WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 12) – Track officials have announced that special series events rained out last week at Hamilton County Speedway will not be rescheduled. The program featuring both the Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models and the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds was to have been held Tuesday, June 3 at Webster City.
TIPTON, Iowa (June 12) – A Deery Brothers Summer Series-XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour doubleheader at Cedar County Raceway in Tipton has been rescheduled, as has the Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Benton County Speedway in Vinton. Both the Deery Series for IMCA Late Models and the Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will be at Tipton on Tuesday, Aug. 19. That pairing was originally postponed because of inclement weather on June 10. A Monday, Aug. 18 Hawkeye Dirt Tour event at Benton County Speedway in Vinton is back on the schedule. Late Models run for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start at Cedar County. Modified features at Tipton and at Vinton both pay $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start and are now qualifying events for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 8) – Jake Olmstead led from the beginning to take the checkered flag in Sunday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature at Dawson County Raceway. Olmstead started on the outside of the first row to get the early edge. Dillon Thompson earned runner-up honors. Olmstead, Thompson and Kyle Bond were three-wide for many laps in the closing circuits of the feature before a tough break sent Bond to the rear of the field on a yellow flag. Getting into the mix in the final laps was Tiffany Bittner as she earned third place honors. Grabbing the lead on lap 14, veteran David Murray Jr. held off all challengers in the final laps to win the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event. Fast at the finish was Chad Dolan in pacing the field during the final five laps to earn the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod victory. Breaking through for the win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division was fan favorite Mikey Dancer, who led the final 11 laps.
SLAYTON, Minn. – The only doubleheader of the 2014 tour is on tap this weekend for the Redline Racing Parts North Star Series. Five IMCA divisions see series action on Friday, June 13 at Murray County Speedway in Slayton and again Saturday, June 14 at Arlington Raceway. Three defending champions, Jim Larson in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Matt Looft in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Nate Coopman in the Mach-1 Sport Compacts, take point leads to Slayton. REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (June 8) – The driver with the most career Stock Car tour wins became the driver with the most recent Redline Racing Parts North Star Series Modified victory Sunday at Redwood Speedway. Dustin Larson earned his career first IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers by passing Curt Lund for the lead on the seventh of 20 laps and then holding off challenges from Jerry Wren. “I was pretty happy to pass Curt. He’s pretty good,” said Larson, an eight-time series Stock Car winner and the 2012 champion. “This was my eighth night in a Modified and I’m starting to get the hang of it. (June 7) – Returning to the track where he’s already enjoyed so much success, Jeremy Shank won Saturday’s Strawberry Cup main event for Wirth Wireless IMCA Modifieds at Willamette Speedway. Colleen Weinberger blazing the trail early before being overtaken by Shank. Shank then took care of business to earn the victory. Although he has had won in the Late Model portion during Strawberry Cup it would mark the first time that the second-generation driver visited the winner’s circle in a Modified in this historic event. Last year’s Strawberry Cup winner Jesse Williamson crossed the wire second, followed by Weinberger, Monte Bischoff and Craig Cassel.

The evening started with the make-up feature for the Casey’s General Stores IMCA Stock Cars, where Bo Lundquist got out front early and held on for the victory. Behind Lundquist, Aaron Cain and point leader Jason Ward rounded out the top three. Next came the make-up feature for the Jebro, Inc. IMCA Modifieds. After working his way to the lead from midpack, Chris Abelson ran away to the finish, taking the win over Ricky Stephan and early leader Jason Schneiders. In the regular features, division leader Ramsey Meyer took the win in the KISS 107.1FM IMCA Sport Compacts. Meyer had to fight to the finish to hold off defending track champion Cody Thompson and hard-charging Don Tank.
