More paperwork needed for minor drivers in IMCA

VINTON, Iowa – Drivers under the age of 18 in all sanctioned divisions are required by IMCA to submit paperwork in addition to their competitor’s application. No exceptions are granted. All drivers ages 14-17 must send a notarized release form, signed by both parents/guardians, and a copy of their birth certificate. There’s also a $50 minor fee, additional to the price of the license, that must be paid when the license is purchased. Release forms are available by contacting IMCA. Drivers 14 and 15 years old are also required to send information about their previous racing experience, if any, and what tracks they will compete at during the upcoming season. IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour finalized at a dozen events

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Hawkeye Dirt Tour now numbers 12 events, with the addition of Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified shows at Marshalltown Speedway, Dubuque Speedway and the Clay County Fairgrounds at Spencer. The HDT joins the Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models for the first time at Marshalltown on Tuesday, June 7. Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also the card that evening. Dirt Defender awards new for IMCA Stock Car drivers

RED OAK, Texas – A Texas company already familiar to IMCA drivers around the country is new this season to the sanctioning body’s sponsorship ranks. Dirt Defender of Red Oak joins the national decal program for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. The Billy Vest and Dennis Bissonnette-owned company gives a free pair of vented wheel covers to the champion and rookie of the year in each region, as well as $25 gift certificates to a top five finisher at designated specials for the full-bodied class. “Dennis and I always had stacks of wheel covers that fit different. 2016 national decal placement program announced for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars

VINTON, Iowa – The final portion of IMCA’s 2016 national decal program have been announced, with information released for the Stock Car division. Dirt Defender has signed on as part of that program, which also includes EngineQuest – title sponsor for both Northern and Southern regions – Speedway Motors, Intercomp, Holley, MSD, Sunoco and Fast Shafts. “The Stock Car division was the last to be announced because we wanted to confirm a couple of agreements and make sure we got Dirt Defender on board,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “Now that we have those solidified we’ll get the decals distributed before the majority of our tracks open weekly.” Drivers must provide proof of decal placement to become eligible for national and regional point fund shares. Car photos can be mailed to Yoder at the IMCA home office or emailed to kyoder@imca.com. Decal packets, which also include applicable contingency sign-up forms, are being mailed beginning this month to drivers who have purchased 2016 licenses. Deadline for submitting car photos and contingency forms is Aug. 1.

Simmons Promotions to host March 26 race car show

FARLEY, Iowa – Simmons Promotions has set Saturday, March 26 as the day to kick off the 2016 race season with its very popular pre-season race car show. The Palace Ballroom, located on the Farley Speedway grounds on the west edge of Farley, will be the site. Larry Shaw returns as title sponsor for IMCA Western Region

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Larry Shaw Race Cars reaches one IMCA sponsorship milestone and nears another in 2016. The Batesville, Ark., chassis builder returns for a fifth season as title sponsor of IMCA’s Western region for Modifieds. Shaw will provide a portion of the $6,000 point fund to be paid to top 10 drivers in official standings for the region that includes tracks in Arizona, California, western Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, northern New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. Drivers in the region must display two Larry Shaw Racing decals on their race car to be eligible for point fund shares. The champion earns $2,500, with $1,250 for second, $625 for third, $325 for fourth and $300 for fifth. Sixth through 10th place finishers each receive $200. Parker now carrying the keys to Merced Speedway

MERCED, Calif. – Ed Parker now carries the keys to the track he’s already been going to forever. The long-time fan and former driver and owner is the new promoter of Merced Speedway. Both Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will run Saturdays at the 1/3-mile clay oval beginning April 2. “I want to get my feet wet, get some races in and make this a great place for the racers,” said Parker, who took charge at Merced in February. “Right now, everything is baby steps.
