ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 7) – Second-year 95.7 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car speedster Colin Smith led from start to finish to take opening night honors at Arlington Raceway on Saturday. Michael Stien weaved his way to second to challenge but had to settle for runner-up points. New­comer and North Dakota traveler Trevor Mell was third. Dalton Magers led the first 10 laps of the MN 93 IMCA Modified feature but a succession of cau­tions broke his momentum and opened the door for Clint Hatlestad and Mark Noble to get by. Hatlestad, Noble and Brandon Beckendorf made up the final top three. Matt Schauer drew the pole for the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature but it was Dan Mackenthun who led the field into turn one. He stayed in front to the finish with Schauer second and Dean Cornelius third. Eight green flag laps brought the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main event to a conclusion and Kris Zuhlsdorf proved to be the start-to-finish leader. By Greg Grabianowski BRITT, Iowa (May 7) – Ryan Ruter raced from 10th starting to win the Friday feature for Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds at Hancock County Speedway. Kelly Shryock was the runner-up with Josh Ruby third. Heath Tulp came from the outside of row three to win the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Tulp held off a serious challenge from the hard-charging Derek Green, who finished second. David Smith was third. Shane Swanson started on the pole in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature and never gave up that position, although he had to deny the fast closing George Nordman. Third was Nick Meyer. Jay Sidles and Tony Smidt led the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature field to the flag stand but at the end of the race, the victory went to Andrew Borchardt, who came from his inside fifth row start­ing slot. Smidt finished second followed by Weston Koop. Kaytee DeVries was the winner of the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 5) – Mother Nature derailed the opening night by one week but that did not stop 93 cars to visit the Kossuth County Speedway in Algona for the 2016 season opener on Thurs­day. “We had to wait a week to get started with the rain and cold last week but it was worth the wait as the drivers put on a good show,” said track manager Ron Reefer. “Things went well. We had a decent car count and track was smooth and fast.  Overall, it was a good evening of racing.” The Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature saw Tad Reutzel grab the early lead but a flat front right tire ended his night and Ricky Thornton Jr. took over the lead. (May 7) – All four of the divisions getting the Summer Storm Dirt Series competi­tion saw the eventual race winner pull away from the pack Saturday at Off Road Speedway. Kyle Prauner pulled away to secure the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod win, his second of the season at Norfolk. Ultimately, Dylan Pospisil won what became a three-car race for the runner-up spot, with Nelson Vollbrecht getting third ahead of Troy Bruns. Another runaway winner, Ron Pettitt, needed 10 laps to get to the front in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car race and then put plenty of distance between himself and second-place finisher John Had­cock during the final six laps. Chasing Hadcock to the finish line was Chad Bruns. Tejay Mielke powered his way to a convincing victory in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, his second in three nights of racing at Off Road Speedway, while Jeremy Hoskinson established a decisive second-place finish ahead of Tiffany Bittner.   By Scott Owen SHAWANO, Wis. (May 7) – Former track champions Jerry Wilinski, Dan Michonski, and Lucas Lamberies each scored their first wins of the season Saturday at Shawano Speedway. Second row starter Chucky Forstner led the first two laps of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modi­fied feature before Jeremie Hedrick asserted himself with an outside pass.  Hedrick led through lap 12 when the caution flag flew. On the next lap, Wilinski took the lead from Hedrick with an inside pass. Lance Arneson and Mar­cus Yarie joined Wilinski and Hedrick in the top four on lap 15. Yarie went three-wide with Arneson and Hedrick the next time around to grab second. Yarie pressured Wilinski the rest of the way but Wilinski would not be denied the victory.  Yarie finished second, Arneson third, Forstner fourth and Hedrick fifth. AUBURN, Mich. (May 6) – To say defending Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modi­fied champion Myron DeYoung has had a rough start to the season at Tri-City Motor Speed­way would be a huge understatement. It looked like maybe his luck would turn around Friday night however, as he dominated his heat race. Starting inside row two, he immediately passed front row starters Craig Vance and Matt Szecsodi and lead through lap 13 in the main event. But once again, A.J. Ward, who has won every feature in 2016, found his way to DeYoung’s back bumper. The frontrunners put on quite a display before Ward pulled away and cruised to win num­ber three on the season. DeYoung was second, followed by Vance, Chad Wernette and “B” winner Austin Wonch. A record 107 drivers vied in the regular weekly show at Auburn.
