Arneson scores second Sanders Mod Tour victory, car count record set at Red River

By Mike Spieker WEST FARGO, N.D. (Aug. 19) – A Sanders Mod Tour and Red River Valley Speedway record 53 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds were signed in Friday evening for night two of the tour. In a performance that mirrored his effort Thursday night at Norman County Raceway, Austin Arneson took the lead at the midpoint and cruised to the $2,000 win. John Nord and Myles Tomlinson led the 25-car field to the green flag for the 25-lap main event, with Nord leading the opening lap over Michael Greseth. On lap two, Gresesth, who already has a RRVS feature win to his credit, took the point away before opening up a comfortable lead. Meanwhile, fifth starting Arneson moved by Nord for second one lap later and set his sights on Greseth. New division, early entry numbers have anticipation building for Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – A new division and early registration numbers that border on the amazing continue to generate a buzz about the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Five hundred and thirty-five drivers from 25 states and Canada are already entered in the Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals at Boone Speedway. In addition to the right to call themselves champions of dirt track racing’s premier event, they’ll vie for shares of a purse exceeding $285,000 and more than $60,000 in contingency awards. “The numbers speak for themselves. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals boasts potential $5,000 top prize

EAGLE, Neb. – The nearly 140 drivers already pre-entered for the Sept. 1-4 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals main event will now be racing for a potential $5,000 top prize. In addition to the guaranteed $2,500, IMCA will pay the Sprint Nationals champion a bonus of $50 for each sanctioned start they’ve made this season. That means a driver who’s made 50 IMCA starts and takes the Sunday, Sept. 4 checkers at Eagle Raceway can double his or her money. “We have paid bonuses based on the number of sanctioned starts to champions at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s for several years,” said Brett Root, president of IMCA. “The growth of the IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car division and the entry numbers for this event certainly justify paying a similar bonus at Sprint Nationals. Arneson becomes first repeat winner of Sanders Mod Challenge

By Mike Spieker ADA, Minn. (Aug. 18) – The inaugural Sanders Modified Tour commenced Thursday night at Norman County Raceway with a record 46 Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds on hand. While the Sanders Modified Tour is still in its onset, the one-night Sanders Modified Challenge, which now apart of the four-night tour, has been the premier Modified event on the NCR schedule for the previous four years. Before Thursday night, there had been no repeat winner of the Sanders Modified Challenge but all that changed when Austin Arneson drove from third to the lead and picked up the win to back up his 2014 Sanders Mod Challenge title. “This is huge. Ryan gets best of Deery challengers at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Aug. 16) – If he’d had a rear view mirror, Matt Ryan would have been able to watch the race that played out behind him in Tuesday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Dubuque Speedway. Ryan led all but the first of 50 laps in winning the IMCA Late Model tour feature and $2,400. The Deery checkers were his career second. “Normally when I go to Dubuque I’m a guardrail guy but the car was good on the top side in my heat race,” said Ryan, who’d won the Slocum Memorial Deery in April of 2011. “I thought if I’m starting second that I’d stay there. Bruening brings point lead to Dubuque Deery

DUBUQUE, Iowa – There’s a new leader heading into Tuesday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Dubuque Speedway. Tyler Bruening brings the IMCA Late Model Tour point lead to town for the Aug. 16 show. The feature pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $18 for adults, $12 for students ages 13-17 and free for 12 and under. Pit passes are $30 Bruening had finished seven places ahead of Jeff Aikey at the previous Deery event at Cedar County Raceway. Marriott gets redemption, wins Night of 10,000 Stars

By Ryan Clark BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 14) – One night after an unexpected early exit during the Night of 1,000 Stars, Hunter Marriott stood in victory lane following the Night of 10,000 Stars at Hancock County Speedway. Marriott, who was sidelined late in Saturday’s 50-lapper after contact while battling for the lead, outran Ryan Ruter to earn the win Sunday night, his third of the week as part of Iowa Modified Speedweek. Already on the 2017 Fast Shafts All Star Invitational ballot, Marriott earned $7,000 for his Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified efforts Sunday. The main event was split into two 25-lap segments, which were separated by a 10-minute pit stop on the front stretch. Luloff, Moss score wins on Fan Appreciation Night

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (Aug. 13) – Saturday night’s racing action at West Liberty Raceway featured Fan Appreciation Night along with Kids’ Back To School Night. The huge crowd was treated to a great night of racing and the kids received Back To School Supplies and also had a $1,355 nickel scramble. Despite nearly seven inches of rain the last couple of days in the West Liberty area, the crew was able to provide the drivers with a great track and the drivers responded with providing an exciting night of wheel to wheel racing in all classes. The Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds were the headline division with 24 cars in attendance. Jerry Luloff scored his second win of 2016 in topping a very strong field.
