Friday will be a beach at Lee County

DONNELLSON, Iowa – This Friday night, June 23 is “Beach Night” at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson. Anyone fan wearing only a swimming suit gets into the grandstand for half price. You are welcome to bring towels, extra clothes or sandals, and whatever you would bring to the beach. We are going to attempt to make a giant water slide in victory lane. All ages will be allowed to participate as long as a waiver is signed. Kids must have parents present to sign. All drivers and significant others also bring your swimming suit as we will have a contest who goes the farthest. This will be a night of fun and laughs. Who is ready to slip and slide on Friday night? Which driver will go the farthest?

Cheesehead Triple Crown paydays add up to $20,000 for IMCA Modified winners

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. – IMCA Modified drivers chase winner’s checks totaling $20,000 over the course of the upcoming Cheesehead Triple Crown. 141 Speedway’s June 21 and 22 Clash at the Creek boasts a $10,000 top check. Both the June 23 Battle at the Zone at Oshkosh SpeedZone Raceway and Shawano Speedway’s June 24 Fury at the Fairgrounds are $5,000 to win events. All three features are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers and Ken Schrader will vie with the IMCA regulars both nights at 141. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region, and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded throughout the richest week of IMCA racing in Wisconsin. Pre-tech starts at noon and an open practice session runs from 6-9 p.m. at Francis Creek on Tuesday, June 20. Pray prevails at Greased Pig for first IMCA Modified victory

AUBURN, Mich. (June 16) – IMCA Modified career win 1.0 at Tri-City Motor Speedway’s Greased Pig 7.0 special put Chaz Pray on the ballot for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational 14.0. “I’ve always had it in my mind that when we won, it would be from further back,” Pray said after taking the $1,077 checkers Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway, his home track. “Tri-City is usually very racy and you don’t know where the line is going to be. It was rewarding to run where we wanted to and be able to keep out momentum up.” “It’s a big bonus to be on the Fast Shafts ballot,” the first-time IMCA Modified feature winner added. The six-year IMCA campaigner had started the 41-lapper from outside the front row. McRoberts outduels Dodge City foes

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. (June 16) – Randle McRoberts was first to the checkers in Friday’s IMCA Modified main event at Dodge City Raceway Park. McRoberts slipped by Travis Simmons on the 12th circuit and paced the field the rest of the way. Simmons and McRoberts had started alongside each other on the front row of the main event with Simmons getting the upper hand in the early going. McRoberts chased Simmons for 11 laps before finally pouncing on the lead. Joel Lane followed McRoberts’ lead around Simmons and held second until the final round when Cole Traugott worked his way into the runner-up position after starting 12th. Lane claimed the show position with the father-son duo of Troy and Brendon Gemmill rounding out the top five. Troy Gemmill’s charge to fourth came from the 20th starting position.

New IMCA sponsor 4K has Cold Fire awards for drivers, extinguishers for sanctioned tracks

Toland scores IMCA Late Model win at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 16) – Defending national and track champion Rob Toland dominated the Petersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Model feature Friday at Davenport Speedway. Toland took the lead from his son Bobby on lap four of the 25-lapper and built a sizable lead before the caution flag flew with three laps remaining. Chuck Hanna got a great restart and chased Toland to the checkered flag. Matt Ryan recovered from the caution to finish third. Mike Cothron and Andy Nezworski completed the top five. Brad Montgomery scored a long-awaited win in the Eriksen Chevrolet IMCA Modified main. Montgomery started on the outside pole and led all 20 laps for the win. Kay doubles up at Farley

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa (June 16) – Justin Kay was a double winner Friday at Farley Speedway. The Out-Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models took the green with Nick Marolf blasting into the lead from his front row start. Marolf looked to be on cruise control as he rode the top side of extremely fast track but engine woes sidelined the leader as the race hit the midway point. Joel Callahan assumed the point only to have a spin as he worked lapped traffic force him to the rear. Justin then took over the point and went on to record the win. Tyler Bruening and Dan Shelliam completed the top three. The GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modifieds provided another exciting feature. Matt Gansen took the race lead early, only to have the sixth starting Kay chase him down and make the winning pass on lap number 12 of the non-stop 20-lap main event. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods on June 24 card at River Cities Speedway

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – River Cities Speedway hosts the first-ever appearance by Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods at Grand Forks on Saturday, June 24, during the Greater Grand Forks Fair. The feature pays $300 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. Fair admission of $5 is good for entry into the grandstand. Pit passes are $30. The division returns to River Cities on Friday, Sept. 15 as part of the season-ending show. Admission will be $16 through Ticket Outlet or $19 at the front gate.

Lincoln County Raceway hosts Schultz Memorial on June 20

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods race for $2,000 to win while IMCA Modifieds chase a top check of $1,000 at Lincoln County Raceway’s Tuesday, June 20 Marcie Schultz Memorial special. The Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $30 or $10 for kids 10 and under. There is no entry fee. Free ice cream, courtesy of Highland Dairy, will be served.
