Bilstein renews IMCA awards program for 19th season 

POWAY, Calif. – IMCA drivers in five divisions benefit from Bilstein Shocks sponsorship for a 19th consecutive season. The Poway, Calif., manufacturer has renewed a contingency program that sees nearly $8,000 in product certificates awarded to IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod drivers. “As Bilstein nears its second decade of supporting IMCA, we are more excited than ever with a full range of new shocks for nearly every class,” said Director of Motorsports-North America Scott MacDonald. “We are looking forward to continuing our championship tradition in 2017!” Top eligible drivers in each Modified region earn $350 certificates. Radivoy races to CRSA checkers at Orange County

(April 29) – The Super Gen Products and Champion Power Equipment-sponsored CRSA Sprint Tour made its first of five stops on the schedule at Orange County Fair Speedway on Saturday, which was also the first of five races on the Hard Clay Challenge Series. Thomas Radivoy, a native of Circleville, took his no. 1Q IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car to victory lane leading all 20 laps of the green to checkered flag main event. Radivoy made the redraw through a third-place finish in his heat race and pulled the outside pole. Emily VanInwegen earned the runner-up spot after she came away from the redraw with the pole. She was able to hold off Eddie Strada, who came away with third. Christian Rumsey and Tyler Jashembowski rounded out the top five. Sprint Series of Oklahoma set for Friday show at Red Dirt Raceway

By David Smith Jr. MEEKER, Okla. – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will be back in action Friday, May 5 as the tour makes the first of two ap­pearances of the season at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker. This event will be race three on the 2017 SSO schedule with Joe Wood Jr. of Oklahoma City pick­ing up the victory this past Friday night in Wichita Falls, Texas, while Texan Chad Koch picked up the season-opening victory at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in late March. The SSO visited the quarter-mile red-clay oval in Meeker last year with Jake Martens and Andy Shouse picking up victories. Shouse’s lone SSO victory last year helped propel him to the inaugu­ral series championship, as well as the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car national crown. Sunset Speedway Park opens Saturday with Ladies’ Night 

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – IMCA Modifieds are on the card when Sunset Speedway Park opens for the sea­son on Saturday, May 6. The first round of IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing action will be Lime-A-Rita Ladies’ Night where all ladies 18 years or older get into the races for $5. “The weather hasn’t been the kindest to us this year,” commented Nikki Gamell, Sunset manager. “We’re very excited to finally get some racing in. We also want to invite all those lovely ladies out there to come out and have some fun.” Pit gates open at 2 p.m. and the front gate opens at 4 p.m. Racing kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, seniors, military and juniors ages 13-17 are $10, youth ages 6-12 are $5 and children five and under are free. Fifth annual IMCA Modified Stampede is Saturday at Dodge City

While the IMCA Modifieds battle it out for a $1,200 winner’s share in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier, championship chase action continues as well for the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Racing action goes green at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $15 for adults with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. A pair of bicycles will also be awarded to two fortunate children. Stief masters field to win first-ever Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series feature

(April 30) – Rick Stief scored his second career Racesaver 305 Sprint Car victory in the first-ever Mid-Atlantic Sprint Series event Sunday at Bridgeport Speedway. Stief started fourth and took the lead on lap 14 after early race leader Ryan Stillwaggon’s engine expired while maintaining over a straightaway gap on Stief and the rest of the field. Purse boosted for IMCATV-sponsored B feature at Sprint Nationals

EAGLE, Neb. – The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Nationals purse has increased every year since it began. In past years the main event purse on Sunday has increased. Last year it was increased to $2,500 to win and $1,250 to start for the 27th place car. Nine rows of cars will start three-wide and run for shares of a $46,700 main event purse while the “B” feature non-qualifier purse for Sunday has been increased to $1,000 for the first non-qualifier (10th place) and $500 to start, making the total non-qualifier feature purse $7,000. JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Feature winners on all six nights of the biggest series for IMCA Modifieds will get bigger checks. Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour main events will pay $2,300, a minimum of $300 to start, and are qualifying events for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Opening night for the North Dakota-based tour is Saturday, July 8 at Jamestown Speedway.
