Elliott scores Red River Mod Tour win at Grayson County

By Mike Spieker BELLS, Texas (May 31) – The inaugural Red River IMCA Modified Tour produced its fifth different winner in as many nights Thursday at Grayson County Speedway. Chris Elliott started fifth and charged to the $1,000 payday and a berth on the Fast Shafts All Star Invitational ballot. “This feels so good,” said Elliott in victory lane. “We were working on this thing until 7:30 in the morning. The car has been really good, I just haven’t had any luck in the features. [Grayson County Speedway] is my type of place. This place is awesome. It was a lot of fun out there.” David McKay and Justin Radcliff led the field of 25 IMCA Modifieds to the green flag for the 25-lap feature. IMCA RaceSaver Sprints make BVR debut on June 6

ALTA, Iowa – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars make their Buena Vista Raceway debut, joining the Wednesday, June 6 card. There is no entry fee and the Sprint Car portion of the CS Agrow-sponsored program is draw/redraw. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State points will be awarded. Rounding out the card are IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students ages 13-18 and seniors. Admission for kids 12 and under is $2 or free with the donation of a non-perishable food item. More information is available by calling 712 299-5573.

Flow Design continues awards for drivers in five IMCA divisions

WELLINGTON, Kan. – Drivers in five IMCA divisions see their on-track accomplishments recognized again this season by Flow Design. In its 11th year as an IMCA sponsor, the Wellington, Kan., manufacturer gives carburetor spacers to first through fifth place finishers in 2018 national standings for the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods. Sixth through 10th place drivers in those divisions each receive certificates good for 50 percent off the purchase of a carb spacer. All awards will be presented at the IMCA national banquet in November or mailed from the IMCA office beginning the following week. Carrell takes Red River Mod Tour checkers at Devil’s Bowl

By Mike Spieker MESQUITE, Texas (May 30) – A wild Wednesday night at Devil’s Bowl Speedway was capped off by an upset win in round four of the IMCA Red River Modified Tour. Mark Carrell started on the pole and picked up the $1,000 payday. Entering the night, Carrell hadn’t had the best luck with the Red River Mod Tour, making just one A-main appearance through the first three rounds. Devil’s Bowl was a different story for the Redmond, Ore. driver. By night’s end, he pocketed $1,000 and added his name to the Fast Shafts All Star Invitational ballot. “It was nerve-wracking,” said Carrell of leading the field to the green. “[Devil’s Bowl] is my kind of race track. I was really happy with my car all night. Miller Lite 50 at Marshalltown next for Deery Series

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – IMCA Late Models following the Deery Brothers Summer Series make their annual mid-week visit to Marshalltown Speedway next Tuesday, June 5. The Steve Priske Miller Lite 50 pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Rumours Bar and Grill pays $200 to each heat winner, plus another $200 to any driver who can win both their heat and the main event. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults. $12 for seniors and free for kids ages 10 and under. Pit passes are $30. Curt Martin of Independence, winner of the May 28 event at Boone, leads all drivers with five career Deery wins at Marshalltown. Outagamie win goes to Long

SEYMOUR, Wis. (May 27) – Josh Long was the Sunday IMCA Modified feature winner at Outagamie Speedway. Joey Taycher paced the opening laps with Long, Marcus Yarie and Mike Mullen giving chase. Long muscled his way down low past Taycher on lap eight for the top spot. Yarie closed in on Long, making the pass for the lead on lap 14. The caution flew simultaneously for debris and scoring went back to the last completed lap. Up against curfew the race was checkered with Long receiving the win. Yarie had to settle for a frustrating second, Mullen was third, Lance Arneson placed fourth and Taycher completed the top five. Jeremy Christians raced from row two to the early lead of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Travis Van Straten followed suit into the runner-up position and worked high and low on Christians. Roth wins third straight at Dawson County

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (May 27) – Anthony Roth, Tony Schultz, Mike Nichols and Zach Olmstead earned trips to the winner’s circle on Sunday evening at Dawson County Raceway. Wasting no time to get to the front, Roth got the lead on the second lap and never looked back to capture his third straight IMCA Modified victory at Lexington. Veteran wheelman Schultz regained the lead following a lap 11 restart in winning the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod main. No stranger to victory lane, Nichols won his third straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature from the ninth starting spot. The battle for the lead was heavy and heated in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature with Olmstead leading the final eight laps to claim the victory.

Pace races to IMCA RaceSaver Sprint win at Eagle

(May 26) – Mark Pace was scored first every time around the track in winning his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature Saturday at Eagle Raceway. “We parked it tonight on the front stretch, finally!” he said from victory lane. “I love a dryslick race track like we had tonight. Whenever a track takes rubber I always smell it first and get right into it. It makes you a driver. I also like a heavy track where it’s elbows up, but this kind of track is more technique.” Joey Danley, Toby Chapman and Mike Boston rounded out the top four. Jeff Ware and Shawn Harker both won for the third time in four Valentino’s IMCA Hobby Stock and Purdue University IMCA Northern SportMod outings, respectively. Velasquez rebounds for Dodge City RaceSaver Sprint win

(May 26) – Just one weekend removed from a wild heat race flip, Taylor Velasquez bounced right back to win Saturday’s 25-lap United Rebel Sprint Series vs. Precise Racing Products Sprint Car Clash main event at Dodge City Raceway Park. Velasquez put his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car out front at the outset from the pole position and capitalized on a lap 20 caution that negated a Jake Martens pass for the lead to secure the win. Given a reprieve, Velasquez burst out to a lead of several car lengths as the race restarted, but Martens closed back in and tried to slip under in the final pair of corners only to fall two car-lengths short at the stripe. “This week has been blood, sweat and tears,” Velasquez explained. “I wasn’t really sure how I’d feel tonight.
