IMCA expands RoC qualifications for 2020 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – IMCA officials have announced that more drivers will be eligible to qualify for the race of champions in their respective divisions at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. 2019 track champions, as well as 2020 champions or current point leaders, along with former RoC winners, Super Nationals, national and regional champions, will be eligible to qualify. “There was a need to adjust eligibility because of the situation a number of tracks have experienced in 2020,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “We expanded eligibility to include these deserving drivers due to the restricted schedules at these facilities resulting from the pandemic.” The Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions for Modifieds, Sunoco Race Fuels Race of Champions for Stock Cars, Stephenville Starter Race of Champions for Hobby Stocks and BSB Manufacturing Race of Champions for Northern SportMods will be held Saturday, Sept. 12 at Boone Speedway. Rain forces cancellation of Friday racing at U.S. 36

OSBORN, Mo. – Due to steady rain over the last two days and with more forecasted to come, US 36 Raceway officials have made the decision cancel racing action for Friday, July 31. Up next at US 36 Raceway is another edition of the Weekly Racing Series on Friday, August 7, featuring the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. As part of the night, six IMCA Stock Car drivers will compete in the Shocker Chassis Six Pack Shootout at the end of the night in a bracket style special event. Voting for the Shootout will begin Sunday at 3 p.m., with a link on the US 36 Facebook page.

Carter continues hot streak at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (July 29) – Brayton Carter was back in victory lane Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway. Dusty Masolini set the pace for the first half of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Carter had to work for it and on lap 12 he cashed in to take the lead and go on to the win. Masolini held on for second. Zack Rawlins led the first couple laps of the IMCA Modified main until Tom Berry Jr. blasted his way from 10th to the lead on lap four. A caution on lap 14 gave the rest of the field a chance, but there was no catching the 11X car as Berry went on to the win. Dallon Murty made it interesting on the top side but Todd VanEaton was too strong on the bottom and went on to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. Rust is sharp in Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights IMCA Modified Tour win at Hancock County

BRITT, Iowa (July 28) – The game plan Joel Rust brought to Hancock County Speedway and the third installment of the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds played out to perfection Tuesday night. Rust led all but the opening circuit in the 25-lap contest, outrunning Ethan Braaksma and Jeremy Mills to the $1,000 checkers. “We had a good draw, got to the lead quick and had to keep hitting our marks,” said Rust, who had taken the initial green flag from inside row two. “There were a lot of good cars here tonight and we got it done.” Rust was pulling away from the rest of the field when cautions came out on lap seven and again on lap 16, when his advantage over the second-running David Brown was nearly six seconds. Norris notches IMCA Modified win at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (July 25) – Arkansas hard charger Mark Norris took the lead from Carl Murphy with two laps remaining to become the seventh different Bad Boy Mowers IMCA Modified feature winner in eight races so far this season at the Quick-Quarter of Springfield Raceway. In a wild Saturday night feature, most of the pack was chasing Murphy, who jumped to the early lead from his third starting spot while Norris started 11th on the grid. Murphy set a steady pace with action all around behind him as the battle for second through ninth was wicked. Norris was able to take advantage of the final restart and quickly made his winning move for IMCA Modified career victory no. 99. Following Norris to the line were early leader Murphy and Jody Tillman. Only Steven Bowers Jr. has won multiple features this season at Springfield. IMCA Modified action continues next Saturday with racing slated to start at 7:15 p.m.

MSD gives awards in six IMCA divisions, returns to Stock Car decal program

EL PASO, Texas – Drivers in six IMCA divisions race for post-season awards from MSD in 2020. The El Paso, Texas, manufacturer gives product credit certificates to a total of 33 IMCA Modified, IMCA Sunoco Late Model, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod competitors. Top three drivers in each of the five Modified regions, both Stock Car regions and in national Late Model, Sprint Car and Northern and Southern SportMod point standings receive product credit in increments of $200, $100 and $100, respectively, from the 17-year IMCA sponsor. IMCA Modifieds, Late Models headline Iowa Donor Network Night at Indee

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win while the IMCA Sunoco Late Models crown a track champion Saturday at Independence Motor Speedway. The Iowa Donor Network Night event features a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier for the Modifieds while Late Models run for an $860 top check in their 2020 season championship event at Indee. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $550 top check, with $500 paid to win in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature and $300 to win in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Monetary contributions will be paid throughout each feature field. There will be prizes for fans and drivers, along with a raffle and bike drawing for kids. Watermelon Classic set for Saturday at Boone Speedway

BOONE, Iowa – IMCA Modified drivers have two chances to win $1,000 at Saturday’s Watermelon Classic at Boone Speedway. Along with the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying feature on Aug. 1, there’s $1,000 at stake in the 12-car P1 Promotions Modified Challenge. That field will be determined by group time trials and passing points, with the winner receiving a unique trophy from Legends Custom Decals, the high point driver receiving a wrap from Capital and the fast time driver getting a drive shaft from Dynamic Drivelines. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $1,000 to win their feature, with IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods both racing for $500 to win. The event is draw/redraw, heat winners get watermelons and different position bonuses and incentives will be given. Winston Speedway hosts Friday Fast Shafts All-Star qualifier

ROTHBURY, Mich. – A check for $1,200 and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth go to the winner of the IMCA Modified main event this Friday night at Winston Speedway. The July 31 show is draw/redraw and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Dirt Works Eastern Region, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. The draw ends and hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $30 with admission to the pits free for children two and under.
