Thompson tops IMCA Modified main at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 15) – Nate Thompson made his first trip to victory lane at Eagle Raceway following the Saturday night IMCA Modified main event.

In front of a crowd believed to be the largest of the season, Thompson led Justin Wulf, Aaron Pella and Bob Ruisinger early, with Johnny Saathoff racing into fourth on lap three, then swapping the spot with Chad Andersen after a restart on the next lap.

Jordan Grabouski jumped up to third but action slowed with eight to go for debris. Anthony Roth moved to fourth on the restart. Andersen spun with two to go for another caution. 

Shane Hiatt vaulted up to third on the restart with Roth clinging to fourth. That made the top four Thomp­son, Grabouski, Hiatt and Roth.

With three laps to go in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod headliner, Arie Schouten passed Trevor Baker for the lead, but Baker got back past to take the win with Schouten second and Matthew Andrews third.

Tyler Drueke used the high line on a restart with eight laps left to pass Doug Lovegrove for the lead en route to the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car checkers. 

Jeff Ware worked his way to the front of the field with six circuits left in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and Dillon Richards led from lap five to the finish of the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.

Danley starts Eagle title defense with RaceSaver win

By Greg Soukup  EAGLE, Neb. (April 22, 2023) – Joey Danley began his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car title defense with the checkers on a chilly 60th season opener at Eagle Raceway Saturday night. Danley started eighth, swapped the second and third spots early and made what proved to be the winning pass when he caught Trevor Grossenbacher for the lead on lap 11. “I got a really good start, getting up to I think fourth in the first couple of laps and just picked them off one by one after that,” Danley said. “The track held up great and ended up nice and wide for the feature. Saathoff scores opener at Eagle

(April 23, 2022) – After last week’s Icebreaker Challenge was canceled, this week’s Start Your Engines presented by A1 Iron and Empire Fence program at Eagle Raceway could have been branded the Windbreaker Challenge. The strong southerly winds didn’t seem to keep many fans from showing up, however. Those who came saw 180 cars filling the pits and providing some really great racing all night.  Johnny Saathoff won his career 356th Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature after taking over the front spot on an early restart. “It turned out to be a pretty good night. Eagle checkers fly for Lovegrove

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 3) – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car win number one on the season came Satur­day at Eagle Raceway for Doug Lovegrove. Lovegrove started on the pole and was quickly out front. Mike Boston passed Chase Weiler for third on lap seven with Adam Gullion moving up to fourth. From there to the finish it was a tale of two different lines with Lovegrove hugging the bottom and Brandon Horton, Boston and Gullion pounding the cushion.  Lovegrove moved through the lapped traffic and extended his lead at the end to a straightaway with Horton coming home second, Boston third and Gullion fourth. “It’s been way too long.
