Five are Back to School Night IMCA winners at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 24) – Lining up on the outside of the front row was the launching pad Brandon Clough used to run away and hide from the rest of the IMCA Modified field Sunday at Dawson County Raceway. Clough rode the cushion and built up a comfortable lead during the non-stop action. Anthony Roth was second and David Murray Jr. third. Mike Nichols scored another IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory and Jacob Olmstead collected his third straight feature win in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division. Luke Wassom raced from fourth row starting to finish first in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock headliner.

(Aug. 2) – Hitting the dirt running was an understatement when describing the outstanding show seen by the jam-packed house of avid racing fans at Dawson County Raceway Sunday evening.  Getting their season started off on the right foot by punching their ticket to the Chesterman’s Coca-Cola Winners Circle were the quintet of Dakota Sproul, Robbie Thome, Mike Nichols, Zach Olmstead and Rileigh Flohrs.  Showing his cards early paid off for Sproul as he scored the IMCA Modified victory. Sproul started the on the inside of the second row, made the move into the lead on the fourth lap and never looked back. Leading the laps that mattered the most, Thome was the victor in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature. Thome got to third early on and was up to second when leader Brett Berry slowed and relinquished the lead. (Aug. 30) – Ken Schrader raced his way onto the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot while Mike Nichols raced into another chapter in the IMCA record book at Dawson County Raceway’s Connie Jewett Memorial Championship Night.  Schrader topped Sunday’s $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying main event for IMCA Modifieds, holding off Daniel Gottschalk as the 20-lapper wound down while hard charger Clay Money raced from the seventh row to finish third.  Nichols, meanwhile, hustled to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers, equaling the all-time IMCA career wins record with his 557th victory. The Harlan Hustler later joined David Murray Jr., owner of 557 IMCA Modified wins, Schrader and promoter Chad Dolan for a post-race photo; the four own more than 1,200 combined IMCA wins.  Casey Woken stayed with striking distance for much of the feature before settling for second behind Nichols.
