Dialed in, Speckman scores at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 22) – Matt Speckman was dialed in for the IMCA Stock Sunoco Car feature as he led the entire race to win his first feature of the year Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The Ford-powered no. 87 of Brent Uecker, who had started 15th, was fast on the track as he was contending with Speckman by lap 14 but had to settle for second and Dan Mackenthun took third ahead of Josh Larsen. The IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature saw Mike Stien lead the entire race to win his second trophy of the season. Trevor Serbus was wheeling his car quickly around the track to gain on Stien but on lap 11 going into the turn two he wheelhopped a lapped car and ended up rolling up against the wall and ending his night. Mitchell Machine marks 15th season as IMCA sponsor

WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Mitchell Machine marks its 15th season of IMCA sponsorship in 2021, continuing an awards program rewarding Stock Car, Hobby Stock and SportMod competitors. The Webster City, Iowa, transmission manufacturer and machine shop again gives product certificates based on regional point standings for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, and on national point standings for Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods. Top three eligible finishers in both Stock Car regions and both Hobby Stock regions, and national standings for the two SportMod divisions receive product certificates valued at $250, $100 and $100, respectively, Those awards will be presented during the national banquet this fall or mailed beginning the following week from the IMCA home office. BEATRICE, Neb. – Kyle Vanover raced to two firsts and a 100th Saturday night. Berry among first-time winners at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (May 22) – It was another weekly racing series night Saturday at the Boone Speedway, with 146 cars checking into the pits. The defending IMCA Modified national champion, Tom Berry Jr., was in the house tonight, wheeling a brand new car. He hadn’t lost a step from his successful season last year either, as he sailed home to another win. He had to fight around early race leader Russ Dickerson, taking command just before the halfway mark of the event, and then distanced himself from the pack as the checkers flew. It was a hard fought battle behind Berry, with Nick Roberts taking second over 14th place starter Cory Sauerman, Joel Bushore and Dickerson. Brothers battle in IMCA Stock Car feature at Off Road

(May 22) – Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Off Road Speedway became a battle between Neligh’s Wilkinson brothers, Kyle and Cameron. Kyle moved quickly from the outside of the second row into the lead during the first lap and Cameron needed just four laps to find his brother’s rear bumper, even while navigating a group of cars often traveling three- and four-wide in the backstretch. “I knew he was there, I kept on seeing his nose,” Kyle said. “I was trying everything I could not to let him around me.” Cameron had his chances with four cautions during the race’s final 12 laps, but eventually followed Kyle to the checkered flag in second place. Murty’s mastery of the Bullring continues with $1,800 victory

VINTON, Iowa (May 23) – His nickname is the Game Changer, but the only thing changing lately is Dallon Murty’s win total. Murty scored his fourth consecutive feature win to open the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto at the Benton County Speedway Bullring. He picked up $1,800 for his efforts in the draw/redraw event and earned a qualifying berth for the inaugural B&B Chassis All-Star event at this year’s IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The 20-lapper went green with Richard Steadman and Cory Strothman on the front row. Steadman assumed command early while Murty quickly went to work from a third row start. Rudy Yeager Memorial starts season at Sweetwater Speedway

ROCK SPRINGS, Wy. – Sweetwater Speedway’s Rudy Yeager Memorial brings three IMCA divisions to opening night at Rock Springs Friday and Saturday, May 28 and 29. IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying features while IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod features pay $500 to win both nights. Three Memorial Weekend Cornbelt Clash dates for IMCA STARS Mod Lites

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – Memorial Weekend Cornbelt Clash dates take IMCA STARS Mod Lites to Marshalltown Speedway, Boone Speedway and Stuart Speedway for $500 to win features each night. A minimum of $100 will be paid to start each May 28, 29 and 30 feature with a $30 entry fee each night. Marshalltown opens the gates at 5:15 p.m. with racing at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gates at Boone open at 3:30 p.m. and Saturday racing starts at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, gates at Stuart open at 5 p.m. and racing follows 7 p.m. hot laps.
