Collen Winebarger ended the race second with third going to Eston Whisler. Veteran Paul Rea was scored fourth with fifth going to Mayden.  The Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main had several stoppages but one thing remained the same and that was that Ryan Peery was in fine and dominant form.  The California teenager took possession of the lead on the opening start. Peery successfully navigated the track to score his third Wild West win of the week and 11th feature on the year.  Ray Bloom and Matt Sanders were second and third, [Read More]

Hobscheidt has just enough in the tank, takes $5,000 Iron Cup IMCA Modified checkers

JEFFERSON, S.D. (Aug. 10) – All of eight tenths of a second made the difference in Monday night’s Iron Cup main event for IMCA Modifieds at Park Jefferson Speedway. Jacob Hobscheidt led the entire 35-lap feature but had to hold off a hard running Shane DeMey in the closing laps to pick up the $5,000 win by a fraction of a second. “I raced there a handful of times but never had any luck,” Hobscheidt said after matching his career-best payday. “The last four or five laps I was running out of fuel and doing whatever I could to keep the thing running.” Hobscheidt got the early jump on the field over fellow front row starter Bob Moore and cruised early. Action was fierce back in the back of the pack as DeMey working around the low side in coming from 10th starting.  DeMey finally moved around Moore and rookie Cody Thompson to secure the second spot but simply ran out of laps at the finish as Hobscheidt, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, took [Read More]

Stars align for Parson in Texas Sprint Series wins

ABILENE, Texas – Michelle Parson went three years between IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature victories. My mom doesn’t get to many races but she was there that night to see me win and that was special.”  After battling the DNF bug earlier in the season, Parson scored a third-place showing in the series show at Grayson County Speedway that set the stage for bigger and better things at Wichita Falls and Abilene. “You know how racing goes. We had been struggling with setup and getting the driver to drive the car the way [Read More]

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE Grove, Ore. (Aug. 9) – Collen Winebarger became the first repeat IMCA Modified winner when the Wild West Shootout traveled to Cottage Grove Speedway Monday night.  The 40-lap feature got off to a rough start with a multi-car tangle on the initial green.  When racing resumed, Winebarger took over the lead and held onto the front spot through five restarts.  Winebarger witnessed a brief scare when he went off of the top of the final set of corners in lapped traffic on lap 30. He was beaten to the line by Jesse Williamson, but a yellow came out before the entire lap was considered complete, thus giving him back the lead. Winebarger dominated the rest of the distance Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, he earned $1,000. Williamson was second, followed by Mark Carrell, Eston Whisler and Eric Ashley.  In his first-ever appearance at CGS, Ryan Peery was the juggernaut in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main.  Peery won his second race of the week ahead of Dustin Comer, Aaron [Read More]

PASS entries total 46, red hot Bard wins at Port Royal

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, PA. (Aug. 7) – Garrett Bard won his fifth Pennsylvania Sprint Series race in his last sixth starts Saturday night, taking advantage of his second straight front-row starting position draw and fighting off stout challenges from Kenny Heffner and Tyler Snook to top the 20-lap feature at Port Royal Speedway.  The defending national champion Bard received his final and most serious challenge on a late restart with six laps to go. Rookie Snook dove to the inside and briefly claimed the lead, but Bard’s outside power was enough to return him to the top spot and the win.  Kenny Heffner also challenged earlier in the race and re-took second place from Snook in the waning laps. Ken Duke and Dom Melair rounded out the top five. Forty-six IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars contended. Kassidy Kreitz earned the night’s hard charger award, coming from the 21st starting position to 12th after winning her “B” main. This week PASS has two scheduled races. Bethany Speedway back to racing

By Myron Proudfoot BETHANY, Mo. (Aug. 7) –  Bethany Speedway got back to racing action Saturday night. A good car count signed in to provide fans with some much anticipated racing action after two months. The racers were ready also, as they were throwing slide jobs from the first heat race to four wide racing through the features. As the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod car count has increased, so has the excitement. Three of the top four cars started ninth or further back in the field. Trevor Dunn took the lead and looked like he would pick up his first win but with a handful of laps left he slipped high and over the bank. At that point, Bryan Morris inherited the lead as he had been right on Dunn’s tail the entire race. Only a couple laps after that, Randy Smith Jr. had worked his way up from his ninth place starting spot and drove inside Morris to the lead and checkered flag for the first time in a couple years.  Morris held on [Read More]
