Super Nationals IMCA Southern SportMod style: Kennedale to host inaugural event Sept. 8-10

KENNEDALE, Texas (June 10, 2022) – Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods will have a super event of their own this September. Kennedale Speedway Park hosts the Southern SportMod Super Nationals Sept. 8-10. Divisional title sponsor Smiley’s Racing Products is also sponsor of the inaugural event, which pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. “We have a ton of these cars around here and they do a great job showing up every week to support their local tracks so we wanted to have a special event like this for them,” said KSP promoter James Lopez. “Everything we get sponsorship-wise is going to go back 100 percent to the drivers.” The runner-up earns $1,500 with $1,200 paid for third, $1,100 for fourth and $1,000 for fifth. DES MOINES, Iowa – NAPA will bring the automotive parts know how to the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in an official capacity.   Des Moines-based NAPA Iowa has been designated as Official Automotive Parts Supplier of IMCA and of Super Nationals as part of a three-year agreement with the sanctioning body. NAPA also becomes title sponsor of the Fan Zone, to be located south of the Boone Speedway grandstand throughout the week of the Sept. 5-10 Super Nationals. BRITT, Iowa (June 7, 2022) – Big money is at stake on a Monday night at Hancock County Speedway, with the $2,500 to win Landus Cooperative IMCA SportMod Nationals set for June 13. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods are the evening’s spotlight division with a main event that pays $300 to start. Drivers can go to MyRacePass to pay an early entry fee of $75 or pay $100 at the gate. Murty dominant in Whole Hog 50 repeat at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, IA (May 30, 2022) – It was 2021 all over again on night two Monday of the Whole Hog 50 at Karl Chevrolet of Stuart International Speedway as Dallon Murty repeated as the $5,000 winner of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event.  Dallon started outside his father Damon on the front row for the 50 lap feature and took control early, with Murty senior and Dustin Vis not far behind.  A yellow on lap 13 helped Jay Schmidt slide into third as the Murtys’ continued to pace the field. Vis was able to get back by Schmidt for third after the second and final caution on lap 22, and as the race wound down it was Dallon extending his lead over Damon. When the checkered flag flew it was Dallon taking the flag to flag win by almost two seconds over Damon with Vis third, Luke Lemmens fourth and Kelly Shryock fifth.  Dallon was already qualified to start the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. Berry tops IMCA Modifieds, Wieben rallies for Northern SportMod win at Anniversary special

VINTON, Iowa (May 30, 2022) – Tom Berry Jr. led all the laps and Sam Wieben led the most important one in the Monday night 43rd Anniversary special at Benton County Speedway. Berry led all 43 laps in winning the star-filled Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, while Wieben lost, then got the lead back from Taylor Kuehl on the final circuit to win the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  “It’s always pretty special to win at the home track of IMCA,” said Berry, who was checking and double checking his car while crewman and right hand man Josh Capalla got the ace in the intermission card draw that gave him the inside front row start. “I don’t get to start on the front row that often. Fast start to season lands Looft career 200th IMCA Northern SportMod victory

ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 28, 2022) – Matt Looft joined another of IMCA’s most exclusive clubs Saturday night at Arlington Raceway.  Looft won for the 200th time in his Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod career, becoming just the 16th driver in the sanctioning body’s modern era began in 1979 to achieve that feat.  “This wasn’t something I ever expected to be able to do,” the Swea City, Iowa, driver said the next day during a break from making ice cream for son’s Brysen’s fourth birthday party. “It took me like three years to get my first win in a ‘B’ mod. WACO, Texas (May 29, 2022) – Three drivers won features and three drivers won championships on the final night of the IMCA All Star Shootout Sunday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway.  Jeff Emerson earned $1,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win while Markiss Harcrow collected $750 and became B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible for his IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers.
