Taylor tops Dakota Tour IMCA Modifieds on record-setting night at Nodak

MINOT, N.D. (July 6) – Jeff Taylor left the gremlins back home in Arkansas. Taylor led all 30 laps of Sunday’s Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Nodak Speedway. The $2,000 victory came on a record-setting opening night for the 25th annual series and clearly got Taylor’s title quest started right. “We came here better prepared than last year and didn’t have to fight the gremlins off,” said Taylor, ninth in the 2013 tour point standings. “I wasn’t very good in hot laps but we loosened the car a bunch and I had a good car in my heat and the feature. $4,000 is possible to win at 20th annual Hogan Memorial

VINTON, Iowa (July 6) – It’s billed as the most anticipated event of the year at Benton County Speedway and the 20th annual Hogan Memorial is a good bet to be just that. The Sunday, July 13 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified main event pays $1,250 to win, another $50 for each of the 40 laps led, plus $250 to the leader at midway. With the addition of a $500 hard charger award, that makes for a potential payoff of $4,000. If not already vote eligible, the winner will be added to the ballot for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Minimum start money has been upped to $200. Each heat race winner earns $100. Jimmy Gustin repeats XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour heroics at Algona (VIDEO)

ALGONA, Iowa (July 1) – His IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified foes have to be happy the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour doesn’t bring Jimmy Gustin to Algona Raceway more often. Gustin ended a late Tuesday night show by regaining the lead on the final circuit for his second straight series win on the Kossuth County Fairgrounds dirt oval. The victory came during Algona’s Salute to Veterans Spectacular and paid $2,000. Delp, Hansen earn first EQ Wild West Tour wins

VERNAL, Utah (June 27-28) – Two veterans of the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour made long-awaited stops in victory lane when the series for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds visited Diamond Mountain Speedway. Casey Delp won his first tour feature on Friday at Vernal. Chase Hansen accomplished the same feat on Saturday, also earning $1,000 and joining Delp as a new candidate on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Point leader Justen Yeager came into the series weekend with a three-race winning streak and ran second both nights. Michael Hale, Jake Donnelly and Eddie Belec completed Friday’s top five. Defending champions among pre-entries for Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour

MANDAN, N.D. – Defending champions Aaron Turnbull and Elijah Zevenbergen are among the 88 drivers from 15 states and Canada already entered for the July 6-11 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. Turnbull joins 63 other pre-registered IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified drivers who will contend for $2,000 to win each night of the 25th annual North Dakota and Saskatchewan-based series. Zevenbergen and 24 more pre-registered IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars vie for $800 to win on the same programs. Deery Series heads to Independence for pre-holiday show

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (June 25) – Still looking for a repeat winner this season, the Deery Brothers Summer Series heads to Independence for a pre-holiday show next Tuesday, July 1. IMCA Late Models contend for $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates and the grandstand at Indee both open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:45 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students and free for kids 11 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $30. The first six tour events of 2014 have produced as many different winners, the most recent of them Jeff Aikey last night at Marshalltown Speedway. ALGONA, Iowa – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds chasing the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour provide part of the fireworks at Algona Raceway’s Tuesday, July 1 Salute to Veterans Spectacular. Traveling Modifieds race for $2,000 to win their 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. The runner-up earns $1,050, with $950 for third and $850 for fourth. Top prize for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars is $1,500 while Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks both vie for $1,200 to win. The Mach-1 Sport Compact feature pays $200 to win. Aikey adds bonuses to Deery Series payday at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 24) – On a night when Marshalltown Speedway continued its 50th anniversary celebration, an IMCA Late Model driver with more than his share of tour success celebrated another Deery Brothers Summer Series victory. Jeff Aikey led start to finish in the Miller Lite 50 event, earning a $3,000 share of the purse plus a pair of $500 bonuses along with his 62nd career Deery win. One of seven drivers from the track’s 1985-1990 Late Model era competing Tuesday night, the seven-time series champion pocketed those bonuses from H & F Distributing for winning the feature and from former promoter Steve Priske, now owner of Rumor’s Bar & Grill, as the highest finishing veteran in the main event. Aug. 1 is deadline for sign-up forms, car photos

VINTON, Iowa – Friday, Aug. 1 is the final date for submission of contingency sign-up forms, rookie of the year applications and car photos proving required decal placement. IMCA drivers who don’t meet that deadline are not eligible for post-season cash and product awards. The rookie application is published in the newsletter and is posted online. Sign-up forms were included in decal packets. Drivers who need sign-up forms or another set of decals can contact IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder at 319 472-2201 or kyoder@imca.com. Car photos can be emailed to the same address. “I prefer that photos show the entire car, not just the decals on the door panel,” Yoder said. “That way we can use photos for Sybesma Graphics Facebook Fan Favorite contest as well.”

Plum picks up sweet prize in non-fendered voting for June

By Ryan Clark SIOUX CITY, Iowa – One of the original 54 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod drivers to compete at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s in 2005, Aaron Plum said he’s in the sport simply to have fun. The veteran from Sioux City, who owns his own sign shop, is the June winner of the Sybesma Graphics IMCA Facebook Fan Favorite contest for non-fendered divisions.
