Kollross IMCA Modified Memorial win goes to Reinwald

(June 9) – Russ Reinwald withstood an onslaught of challenges over the fi­nal 10 laps to score the IMCA Modified win Friday at Luxemburg Speedway’s Doc Kollross Memo­rial. Luck of the draw put Reinwald on the pole for the 25-lap headliner. Reinwald raced to an early lead but a caution on lap six bunched the field and the race was on when the green flag flew. The first challenger was Tyler Hackett as he ran the extreme high side to pull even with Reinwald. Reinwald switched to the same line and pulled away from Hackett. Shawn Kilgore took his turn next, mounting a challenge down low as Reinwald ran the cushion, Pulling even for the lead as laps clicked away. Kilgore kept the pressure on but Reinwald held strong up top to take the win. Taylor travels to Dixieland for VA Sprint Series victory

(June 9) – New Jersey hotshot Jeff Taylor travels the country running his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car and you never know where he may show up next … this week it was the winner’s circle when the Virginia Sprint Series traveled to Dixieland Speedway. Taylor had the lead from the initial green in the first Fast Friday Feature of the season and was a car length ahead of Daren Bola at the checkers. Mike Leraas, Jerald Harris and Brian Lawson rounded out the top five. Anthony Linkenhoker and Taylor paced the field early with Taylor showing the top side was the place to be. He made laps up top with Leraas in tow and Bolac charging toward the front. Lamberies takes victory at Davenport’s SportMod Challenge

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (June 9) – Lucas Lamberies made the long haul to the Davenport Speedway from his home in Clintonville, Wis., pay off with the $2,000 win in Friday’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Challenge. Lamberies started on the front row of the 50-lap feature, outside defending race winner Tony Ol­son. Olson led the first 38 laps before Lamberies used a higher line to get around and over the front spot. A couple laps later, Curtis VanDerWal also passed Olson for second. On the final circuit, VanDerWal tried a slide job for the lead but got up into some loose dirt in turn two and Lamberies came back down the track and regained the lead and the win. VanDerWal finished second, with Olson third. Gage Neal and Rick Wages completed the top five. Deery Series, Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour at West Liberty for June 13 doubleheader

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – Another doubleheader for two premier IMCA series is on tap next Tues­day, June 13 at West Liberty Raceway. The Deery Brothers Summer Series for IMCA Late Models makes its second visit of the season to West Liberty for a $2,000 to win, minimum $300 to start event while IMCA Modifieds following the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour run for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start. Spectator admission is $16 for adults, $14 for seniors 62 and over, $10 for students ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. The drivers’ meeting is at 6 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps. Disqualification leads to Kay’s career 22nd Deery Series win 

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 6) – Justin Kay won for the 22nd time in his Deery Brothers Sum­mer Series career Tuesday night at Marshalltown Speedway. The victory came in unique fashion for Kay, who was awarded the top spot when apparent winner Jer­emiah Hurst was disqualified in post-race tech after a failed rear end inspection. John Emerson became runner-up and IMCA Late Model tour point leader Jesse Sobbing was third after starting 15th. Jeff Aikey and Jake Neal completed the top five. Neal had led the first half of the 50-lapper before giving way to Hurst. The last caution of the race came on lap 48. Kay is now tied with Gary Webb of Blue Grass for fifth on the all-time Deery Series career wins list. Shute’s late-night decision pays off with win in Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour 

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 6) – The decision Todd Shute made right around midnight on Mon­day paid off with the Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature win Tuesday at Mar­shalltown Speedway. Shute held off a very determined Tyler Droste for the $1,000 IMCA Modified victory, his first of the sea­son. “Tyler is a very respectful racer. He was right there,” Shute said following his career 78th win in the division. “It was a very fun race but also very tense.” Shute passed Jimmy Gustin for the front spot on the sixth of 30 laps and denied Droste over the final 10 circuits. JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Nine states and Canada are already represented in on-line registrations for the July 8-13 Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. All six IMCA Modified main events will pay $2,300, a minimum of $300 to start, and are qualifying events for 2017 upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Sobbing wins Memorial Day Deery feature at Boone 

BOONE, Iowa (May 29) – Jesse Sobbing couldn’t have asked for a much better weekend than this. After hearing his name called as winner of the $250 Sunoco Race Fuels feature qualifier drawing, Sobbing went out and won the 40-lap Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Boone Speedway’s Memorial Day special. The IMCA Late Model tour victory paid $2,000 and was the career first for Sobbing, who has already done his share of winning and then some in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and IMCA Modified divisions. “At the end of last year, we decided we were going to race an IMCA Late Model and one of our goals was to try and win a few of these races.
