Wheatshocker Nationals up next for URSS Rebels 

HAYS, Kan. – The 2016 chase for the Myers Racing Engines URSS National Championship contin­ues this weekend with the Rebels taking to the 3/8-mile oval at RPM Speedway in Hays. RPM will come alive with one of the most anticipated two-day shows on the schedule. Six drivers have captured the coveted crown, Patrick Bourke, Kasey Beckham, Ty Williams, Jake Bubak, Zach Blurton and C.J. Johnson, the only multiple winner of event. Only two drivers, Johnson (2008) and Williams (2012) have swept both nights in the history of the event. So far three national races have been run in the 2016 Myers Racing Engines National Points chase with three different drivers claiming victories. Deery Series at Maquoketa next Wednesday, Dubuque reschedules IMCA Late Model show

MAQUOKETA, Iowa – The second half of the Deery Brothers Summer Series now starts next Wednesday, when the IMCA Late Model tour travels to Maquoketa Speedway for a $2,000 to win show on July 20. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 4 p.m. for the ninth of 16 events on the 2016 schedule. Beginning at Maquoketa, Sunoco Race Fuels pays a $200 bonus to the feature winner if they’ve maintained perfect attendance throughout the series; that bonus will roll over to the next event if the winner has not been at every previous event. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. at Maquoketa with racing to follow. Grandstand admission is $16 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and kids ages 11 and un­der get in free. Josh Wren Memorial is Saturday at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. – Arlington Raceway hosts the Josh Wren Memorial this Saturday, July 16, paying $1,000 to the winner of the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Fans are asked to wear blue, Wren’s favorite color, to do a “blue out” in the grandstand in his memory. All regular weekly divisions are on the program along with the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $25. Wren, who died last November at age 24 of colon cancer, had raced go-karts and later Modifieds at Arlington. He also crewed for his father, IMCA Modified veteran Jerry Wren, for many years.

Test and tune tonight at Seymour

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 12) – A test and tune session scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) at Seymour Raceway Park is open to anyone wishing to work on their cars or just get seat time. The pit area will open at 4:30 p.m. and the track will be open from 5-8 p.m. Pit passes are $15. Admission to the grandstand is free.

Mid-Summer Classic is Saturday at Canyon

By Lonnie Wheatley PEORIA, Ariz. – Summer is most definitely in full effect in Arizona’s valley. So it’s quite fitting that Canyon Speedway Park near Phoenix hosts its annual Mid-Summer Classic on Saturday night, July 9. Following an open practice tonight from 7-10 p.m., Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic atop the 1/3-mile clay oval will feature a full slate of that includes Arizona Differential IMCA Modifieds. Saturday tickets are $16 with a $3 discount for military, seniors and students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children six and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.

Recovery fund started for PA Sprint Car driver

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A recovery fund has been established by the Beer Hill Gang for the family of IMCA EMI RaceSaver Sprint Car driver Jake Waters, who was injured last weekend during the feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. URSS Rebels prepare for Nebraska doubleheader weekend

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will make the trek to the Cornhusker State this weekend as the third race of the Myers Racing Engines National Points Championship kicks off the weekend Saturday at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte and a Sunday trip to the lightning fast Dawson County Speedway in Lexington for a regional show. Look for many Sprint Series of Nebraska drivers to bolster the fields for both races as it is an opportunity to pick up valuable URSS/IMCA RaceSaver points as well. With the recent rescheduling of the Valentine Speedway show to Aug. 20 in Glen Rock, Wyo., look for some of the Colorado Region drivers to run for national and regional points as well. Modifieds chase $2,000 top check at Luxemburg tonight

LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds chase a $2,000 top check and a spot on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot tonight (Friday, July 8) at Luxemburg Speedway. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, BMS North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points, but not local track points will be awarded at the event, sponsored by Pagel’s Ponderosa and Ron’s Cheese. There is a $30 entry fee. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will vie for all applicable points. Dale Miller Memorial tonight at Independence 

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 6) – Tonight’s Dale Miller Memorial boasts a $7,000-plus purse for Performance Bodies IMCA Modifieds at Independence Motor Speedway. The second annual event helps kick off the 2016 Buchanan County Fair. The Deery Brothers Sum­mer Series for IMCA Late Models and Albert Auto IMCA Northern SportMods complete the racing program. Miller was a big part of the Independence Motor Speedway racing family until his untimely pass­ing in April of 2015. Miller, an employee of Performance Bodies prior to his passing, was a valua­ble member of the Josh Sherbon (no. 75 IMCA Modified) race team. His shocking passing af­fected several members of the IMS racing family. The Dale Miller Memorial was created in 2015 and it has grown ever bigger in 2016. Ken Schrader joins IMCA Modified field at Skyline Raceway Park July 9

CORTLAND, N.Y. – After reading an article about Skyline Raceway Park in Circle Track magazine, Ken Schrader decided he had to visit the Cortland, N.Y., speedplant. He’ll sign autographs, then join the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified regulars at Skyline on the track Saturday, July 9. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Schrader will meet and greet with race fans during the track’s annual autograph session that precedes hot laps and racing.
