IMCA Modifieds chase $2,000 top check at Illinois’ Sycamore Speedway

MAPLE PARK, Ill. – An Illinois speedplant celebrating its 54th season welcomes IMCA Modifieds for a $2,000 to win main event during the Memorial Weekend. Sycamore Speedway at Maple Park hosts what is believed to be the first-ever appearance by the division, on the half-mile clay oval on Saturday, May 27. A minimum of $150 will be paid to start the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. There is no entry fee. Pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $5 for kids ages 5-11 and free for four and under. IMCA Modified Madness postponed at Davenport Speedway 

DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 19) – The IMCA Modified Madness 50 special, scheduled for tonight (Friday) at Davenport Speedway, has been postponed due to weather. The event will be run next Friday, May 26. The event features IMCA Modifieds racing for $2,000 to win purse. Also racing will be the Pe­tersen Plumbing & Heating IMCA Late Models, the Koehler Electric Street Stocks and the Haw­keye Auto IMCA SportMods competing for weekly track points. Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street in Davenport. West Liberty hosts night two of Tri-Track Challenge

By Jerry Mackey WEST LIBERTY, Iowa – West Liberty Raceway will be back in action this Saturday, May 20 and racing action will feature the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge. Out Pace Racing Products Late Models battle it out on the Muscatine County Fairgrounds half-mile for 40 laps with the winner pocketing $2,000. In addition to the high-powered Late Models, the Performance Concepts IMCA Modifieds, Weikert Iron & Metal IMCA Northern SportMods, Kile Motorsports IMCA Stock Cars and US 6 Bodyworks IMCA Sport Compacts will all be in action. Hot laps get underway at 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow at 7 p.m.

IMCA Late Model Tri-Track Challenge opens at Farley 

By Jerry Mackey FARLEY, Iowa – Farley Speedway showcases Out Pace Racing Products IMCA Late Models tak­ing part in the first installment of the Ideal Ready Mix Tri-Track Challenge Series this Friday, May 19. Late Models will be battling it out for the $2,000 top prize. In addition to the high-powered Late Models, the GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will be in action. Friday’s action will get underway with hot laps at 7 p.m. The first green flag is slated to wave at 7:30 p.m.

United Rebel Sprint Series returning to Thomas County Speedway 

COLBY, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series will open the 2017 season this Saturday night, May 20 at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan. Last year Ty Williams tamed the semi-banked 3/8 mile oval to take the win in front of a packed house. Joining the URSS Sprint Cars will be IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. Hot Laps are at 6 p.m. with races kicking off at 7 p.m. With Mother Nature scoring all the checkers for the year the URSS Rebels are chomping at the bit to hit the track.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and students, and free for kids ages 12 and under. Pit passes are $30. Canyon ready to roll for kids’ bike giveaway night 

By Rowdy Briggs PEORIA, Ariz. – After a small break in action, Canyon Speedway Park fires back up on Saturday, May 20 with the Kids’ Bike Giveaway Night. IMCA Modifieds will be returning to the speedway along with the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Chaz Baca Jr. has dominated the IMCA Modified class at Canyon in 2017. In the six point races, Baca has picked up four wins and finished second in the other two feature events. Guy Norton and John Parmeley claimed the other feature wins this season. George Fronsman has owned the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car season as he leads the way in the point standings. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks have put on some fantastic races this season and Merle Zachrison continues to lead the standings, although he has yet to claim a main event. LaSALLE, Ill. – IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods return to LaSalle Speedway for the Thursday, May 18 Spring Shootout presented by Hoker Trucking. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying feature for Modifieds pays $1,000 to win and a minimum of $125 to start. Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and $100 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be given in both divisions. Side Biter Chassis North Central Region points will also be awarded to Modifieds. Sprint Series of Oklahoma makes first visit to Elk City Speedway on Saturday 

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma presented by Smiley’s Racing Prod­ucts will venture into uncharted territory this coming Saturday night as it makes the first of two appearances of the season at Elk City Speedway in Elk City. The western Oklahoma track will be the sixth different venue for the second-year IMCA Rac­eSaver Sprint Car series that has also seen different winners in the last six races held dating back to last season. EAST MOLINE, Ill. (May 9) – A Mother’s Day show at Quad City Speedway is next on the schedule for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. Touring IMCA Late Models race for $2,000 to win and a minimum $300 to start their Sunday, May 14 main event at East Moline.
