Championship Night is Saturday at Park Jefferson

JEFFERSON, S.D. – Championship Night has arrived at Park Jefferson Speedway, as this Satur­day, Aug. 19 the track will crown its six IMCA champions. In addition, drivers in the IMCA RaveSaver Sprint Car division will compete for their Road to the Iron Cup event with a draw/redraw format paying $500 to win along with $25 drawings for posi­tions 2-5 and 6-24. Point battles have been very close all season in all divisions but no more so than in the J & J Fit­ting IMCA Stock Car class, which has seen a myriad of competitors hold the top spot with Greg Taylor leading by just two points. IMCA SportMod Mayhem Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – After a packed house took in the most recent action at Dodge City Raceway Park on July 28, absolute mayhem is in store for this Saturday night atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas. Saturday’s tilt at the state-of-the-art facility will feature the fourth annual IMCA SportMod Mayhem event that offers up a $1,000 winner’s share. The Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Hobby Stocks will be in action as well on the card that goes green at 7:30 p.m. A strong contingent of invaders is expected to vie for Sport Modified Mayhem honors with Jeff Kaup leading DCRP reps that include the Wiens duo of Kyle and Alex along with Brian May, Jarett Lunow, Joey Maupin, Kohl Ricke and defending track champion Kevin Tabor among others. Tripleheader for United Rebel Sprint Series this weekend 

By David Smith Jr. STOCKTON, Kan. – The United Rebel Sprint Series is set for three straight nights of racing action this coming weekend as the series heads to the Rooks County Fairgrounds in Stockton on Friday night, Aug. 18, before heading to Oberlin Speedway for the annual Bob Salem Memorial on Satur­day and Sunday, Aug. 19 and 20. Current URSS point leader Zach Blurton will lead the Rebels to this tripleheader weekend. He holds a slim 12-point lead over Steven Richardson in the point standings while Jed Werner is just 24 points out of the point lead. Sanders IMCA Modified Challenge Tour set for Aug. 17-20

ADA, Minn. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win each night of the Aug. 17-20 Sanders Modified Challenge Tour, along with shares of a $7,000 point fund. Features Thursday, Aug. 17 At Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., Friday, Aug. 18 at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D., Saturday, Aug. 19 at Jamestown, N.D., Speedway and Sunday, Aug. 20 at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn., all are qualifying events for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pay a minimum of $100 to start. Tour point standings are based on the best three of four finishes and drivers must compete at least three nights to be eligible. It’s Ardmore and Lawton this weekend for Sprint Series of Oklahoma 

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A huge weekend double-header awaits the Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. The tour will make a Friday, Aug. 18 appearance at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore before making its inaugural appearance at Lawton Speedway for a Saturday, Aug. 19 event atop the famed red clay quarter-mile oval. The SSO has been scheduled four previous times this 2017 race season with Mother Nature hav­ing its way twice. Michael Day won the last time the series visited Ardmore back on June 23 while Chad Koch took the series opener back on March 25. Dating back to last year’s inaugural season, Southern Oklahoma Speedway has hosted a total of six series events without a repeat winner. IMCA Modifieds chase $1,000 Benefit Weekend check at Idaho Falls 

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – Night two of Idaho Falls Raceway EIRMC Auxiliary Benefit Weekend will be headlined by IMCA Modifieds running for $1,000 to win along with a berth on the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Sanctioned Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are on Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 programs at Idaho Falls. More money is also on the line Saturday for Northern SportMods as they run for $500 to win. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded both nights in both divisions. Modifieds also earn Larry Shaw Racing Western Region points and a $500 bonus will be paid to the Modified driver sweeping the weekend. Racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday and at 7 p.m. Saturday. Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and over and veterans with military ID, $6 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Proceeds from the weekend go to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

IMCA Modified features at Jim Marsh Classic pay $1,000 to win

TONOPAH, Nev. – IMCA Modified features at Tonopah Speedway’s Jim Marsh Classic special will pay $1,000 to win. The Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19 main events are qualifiers for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and track points will be awarded both nights. Car and driver each night is $100; pre-entry fee for both nights is $175. Pit gates open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both days. $1,000 awaits Sprint Series of Oklahoma winner Saturday in Enid

By David Smith Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Sprint Series of Oklahoma IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Series presented by Smiley’s Racing Products rolls on Saturday night, Aug. 12 as the tour will make its first and only scheduled appearance at Enid Speedway. Courtesy of co-promoter Kip and Heidi Hughes, this event will pay $1000 to win, up from the stand­ard $750 to win. This event will be the fifth weekend in-a-row the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car series, presented by Smi­ley’s Racing Products, will be in action. After the conclusion of this event at the Garfield County Fairgrounds, three more dates are scheduled before the end of August. Jake Martens comes in as series point leader but is looking over his shoulder as inaugural series champion Danny Shouse, winner of a tour-best four features thus far this season, is closing the gap. BST CAT championship program this weekend 

By Suzan McCoy CALHAN, Colo. – While rain has been a challenge throughout the season, IMCA race teams in five divi­sions will challenge for BST CAT championships this Saturday, Aug. 12 at El Paso County Raceway in Calhan. The BST CAT Tour features IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 Sport Compacts. This tour has traveled to four differ­ent dirt tracks located in Colorado, Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke, I-76 Speedway in Fort Mor­gan, and Lamar Speedway in Lamar in addition to El Paso County. The leader in the Modified standings is John Burrow Jr. with 247 points, but Greg Sharpe is right behind with 243. A.J. Valim was 10 points ahead of Burrow and Sharpe before the July 3 race at I-76 Speedway; unfortunately he wrecked in his heat race and went to the “B” main.
