CJ Speedway takes green flag this Friday

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (April 11, 2023) – The forecast looks perfect for the first race of the 2023 racing season at CJ Speedway, located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds in Columbus Junction, Iowa. This Friday, April 14, the sweet sound of racing engines will be heard at the 4/10th mile dirt track. Racing action at CJ Speedway will again run under the sanctioning of the International Motor Contest Association which allows competitors to not only earn local but national, regional and state points and the recognition that can be earned. Sanctioned racing divisions include Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Hot laps are scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m. with racing to follow Friday night.

IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods headline Ice Breaker Challenge shows

EAGLE, Neb. (April 11, 2023) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods are on both race night cards, with bonus money waiting for drivers in either division who can sweep Eagle Raceway’s Ice Breaker Challenge Weekend. Modifieds run for $1,000 to win on Friday, April 14 and for $2,000 to win on Saturday, April 15 while Northern SportMods chase $500 top checks both nights. A Twice is Nice Challenge bonus of $1,000 goes to the driver(s) who can win both their main events. Modified winners earn Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility as well. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $2,000 to win and B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational eligibility, while IMCA Sunoco Late Models vie for $600 to win on Friday. Oskvig’s goal is to do Super Nationals race director job so well no one notices

BOONE, Iowa (April 11, 2023) – The goal Grant Oskvig has for his new job is to do it so well nobody notices him. The veteran track official and former flagman is the new race director for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Frostbuster bonus wins to Ward, Jerovetz and Carter

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 8, 2023) – Saturday night became bonus night for three drivers as Boone Speedway kicked off its 2023 racing season with a Frostbuster special that saw 166 racing machines checked into the pits. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods kicked off the feature racing with the running of their 20-lap main event. Brayton Carter started second on the lineup grid and immediately grabbed the lead. Carter had the field covered as he would go on to lead all laps on his way to victory. Taylor Kuehl, last year’s Frostbuster winner, was runner-up ahead of Cam Reimers, Adam Armstrong and Braden Richards. Carter had won the first night of the Frostbuster on Friday at Marshalltown and earned the double bonus payout of $1,000 for Saturday’s win. Ward rewarded with $1,000 for Marshalltown Frostbuster win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 7, 2023) – Tim Ward, the Arizona native who now calls Harcourt, Iowa home, was the class of the field in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap feature during the season opening Frostbuster at Marshalltown Speedway. Ward passed lap one leader Jimmy Gustin on lap two and never looked back. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Ward captured the Frostbuster $1,000 win, finishing well ahead of second running Todd Shute. Gustin held third place, holding back Jeff Aikey and Jake McBirnie. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, The Class Too Tough to Tame, ran a 25-lap, $750 to win main. It was no contest as Tom Berry Jr. jumped to the lead on lap one, after starting sixth. Berry pulled away from the field until Troy Jerovetz closed in at the halfway point, but could not overtake the leader. Beaver Dam Raceway primes for April 11 opening night

BEAVER DAM, Wis. (April 6, 2023) – The green flag will fly and Beaver Dam Raceway will remember the guy in the pink hat next Tuesday night, April 11. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods are on the opening night card at the newly-sanctioned Wisconsin speed factory. Track prep continues and weather forecasts are calling for high temperatures in the 70’s on race day. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. The National Anthem plays at 6:25 p.m. with racing to follow. The late Director of Competition Jerry Priesgen, who passed away in March, will be remembered during the evening’s program. Practice night for all divisions at Beaver Dam has been rescheduled to Monday, April 10 from 5-8 p.m. Pit passes are $15 and grandstand admission is free.

IMCA Stock Car crown is worth $5,000 at Marshalltown’s King of the Highbanks

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (April 5, 2023) – Three IMCA divisions see their first action of 2023 at 34 Raceway this Friday and Saturday. April 7 and 8 features for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds both pay $750 to win and a minimum of $125 to start. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods race for $500 to win and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $250 to win each night. Grabouski soars to Topless Nationals win at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. (April 2, 2023) – New car, same results. Jordan Grabouski made his first start in a new JGR Chassis a winning one, topping the Sunday feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds at Eagle Raceway’s inaugural Topless Nationals. The five-time and defending national champion battled Jeremy Mills in the late going before capturing the $1,000 victory, his career 278th in the division. “I was a little nervous. This is a new design and Justin Clark, Josh Houseman and Robert Brinkman have spent hundreds of hours in the shop,” Grabouski said. “Winning the first night out is always your goal but you don’t always achieve that.” Mills, the Saturday winner at RPM Speedway’s Mike Hughes Sunflower Classic, had the fastest car much of the night while Grabouski worked his way up from fifth starting.
