Two-night IMCA One Night Stand is this weekend at LaSalle Speedway 

LaSALLE, Ill. – One night of IMCA racing just won’t be enough for the One Night Stand at LaSalle Speed­way. Presented by Hoker Trucking, the third annual spe­cial retains its name while expanding to two days Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4 and 5. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Late Models and Karl Chevro­let Northern SportMods race each race for $1,000 to win on opening night and for $3,000 to win on night two. Both Modified features are qualifying events for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speed­way Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Per­formance State points will be awarded both nights in all three divisions; Side Biter Chassis North Central Re­gion points will be given for each Modified show as well. There are no entry fees. Minimum start money on Friday is $200 for Late Mod­els and $125 for Modifieds. Late Models get $250 to start, Modifieds $150 to start on Saturday. IMCA Stock Car payday is $1,500 at Arlington Shootout special 

ARLINGTON, Minn. – IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars bat­tle it out for $1,500 to win at Arlington Raceway’s Wednesday, Aug. 2 Sibley County Stock Car Shootout. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $750 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for a $400 top check that evening. MCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, re­gional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Racing starts at 7 p.m. Grand­stand admission is $15 and pit passes are $30. Taylor, Cox battle for BST CAT Tour Championship

(July 28) – The BST CAT Tour for IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars travels around Colorado to three different dirt tracks, El Paso County Raceway in Calhan, Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke and I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan. The new kid on the block is Lonnie Cox, who previously raced in Arizona and is only one point away from Wyoming’s favorite Sprint Car racer, Zac Taylor. Cox has taken a win at El Paso County Raceway and a second at Phillips County Raceway behind Darin Berry, a Nebraska favorite, while Taylor has taken two wins at I-76 Speedway. Currently, Taylor leads in points at 152 but Cox is right behind at 151. During the July 21 tour heat races at El Paso County Raceway, Cox got into the wall and Taylor came in third.  Lineups looked good for the young Taylor, however the event rainout before the feature race started. Whole Lotta Cash at stake in Aug. 2-5 IMCA Modified features 

ALTA, Iowa – Four $1,000 to win IMCA Modified events in as many nights are on Race For The Dash and a Whole Lotta Cash cards in early August. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying fea­tures are scheduled Wednesday, Aug. 2 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta; Thursday, Aug. 3 at Kossuth County Speedway in Algona; Friday, Aug. 4 at Crawford County Speedway in Denison; and Saturday, Aug. 5 at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan. The Algona show is during the county fair; BVR, Craw­ford County and Shelby County events are also Dash at the Clash qualifiers for the Aug. 8 Harris Clash at Hamil­ton County Speedway. All regular weekly divisions run each night at each track. Racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps at Harlan, 6:45 p.m. hot laps at Alta and 7 p.m. hot laps at Algona and Den­ison.

Kansas Thunder Series returns to Osborne

By Mike Hughes OSBORNE, Kan. (July 26-27) – The Kansas Thunder Series returned to Osborne Speedway during the Osborne County Fair on Wednesday and Thursday, July 26-27. It was a big night for the Watts family as father Tim and son Tyler of Beloit both raced their way to victory lane. In Wednesday IMCA Modified main event, Tim Watts took advantage of his pole starting position to lead all 12 laps for the win. David Murray Jr. chased Watts most of the race and looked to have a chance to make a pass before the caution flew on lap 10. Watts led the field back to green and held on for the win. Murray settled for second, followed by Tanner Black. Tyler Watts also led all 12 laps in the Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mod main event. All-Star drivers add to lengthy list of IMCA accomplishments

BOONE, Iowa (July 28) – The first 15 IMCA Modified drivers elected to start the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bring an already lengthy list of accomplishments to the IMCA Speedway Mo­tors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Two-time defending race winner Jimmy Gustin, 2012 winner Jordan Grabouski and 2014 winner Kyle Strickler are among that elite group, announced this afternoon. Defending Super Nationals champion Ricky Thornton Jr. was the top vote getter. He’ll be joined in rep­resenting the Larry Shaw Racing Western Region by Ethan Dotson and Ricky Alvarado. Current national points leader William Gould, Dean Abbey and Matt Guillaume make the trip to Boone Speedway for the Sept. 8 event from the Razor Chassis South Central Region. Lawn seating available for Driver Appreciation Night at Dodge City 

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – All of southwest Kansas and beyond is abuzz about this Friday’s “Driver Appreciation Night” event at Dodge City Raceway Park. With drivers doling out tickets to the event to enhance their chances at landing the bigger prizes that will be awarded during the evening, a capacity crowd is expected to fill the grandstands and possibly then some. To accommodate the crowd, the grassy area to the north of the grandstand seating area will be available to use for lawn chair seating on Friday night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to en­sure a good seat in the grandstands or to bring a lawn chair to set up a comfortable vantage point to take in the night’s racing action that includes the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Dubuque checkers make Kay first to repeat in IMCA Arnold Motor Supply Hawkeye Dirt Tour

DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 25) – Justin Kay’s drive to victory lane following the Arnold Motor Supply Haw­keye Dirt Tour feature at Dubuque Speedway started back home in the shop. Kay led the last 11 of 30 laps in winning the Tuesday IMCA Modified main event, on open­ing night of the county fair. The $1,200 tour victory was Kay’s career fourth, his second of the season and put him on the ballot for the 2018 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “We made a bunch of changes in the shop. I didn’t feel I was very good at Oskaloosa or Knox­ville,” said Kay, who had finished seventh and then fifth in the previous two tour events. “The car got a lot better. That was a big part of it.
