Rognlin Rallies From 12th for Grays Harbor Modified Victory

ELMA, Wash. (Aug. 22, 2026) — Olympia’s Austin Rognlin charged from 12th starting to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway, earning his first victory since Aug. 5, 2023.

Jake Sorenson took command on lap six and set the pace out front, but Rognlin was steadily working his way through the field. The 2022 Grays Harbor Raceway rookie of the year completed his charge on lap 12, powering into the lead before sailing away with the victory.

Sorenson crossed the finish line second but was moved back two positions following a droop rule infraction. That elevated ninth-starting Brenton Schnitzer to second and Craig Moore to third after beginning the race eighth, with Sorenson credited with fourth and Devon Reed fifth.

Hudson Shoemaker and Reed were the heat race winners earlier in the night.

Schnitzer Scores Grays Harbor Win, Takes Over Modified Points Lead

(Jun. 28, 2025) — Jason Tole showed early speed by leading the opening lap of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Grays Harbor Raceway, but Brenton Schnitzer stole the spotlight with a thrilling move on lap one. Schnitzer executed a daring two-for-one pass to take second, then quickly powered into the lead on lap two. From there, he was never challenged en route to his second win of the 2025 season at GHR and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Zane Miner had a determined drive, rallying from 10th despite front-end damage that left parts dangling from his machine. Miner made it to second but ran out of time to track down Schnitzer. Jake Sorenson rounded out the podium in third. Miner Controls Every Lap for First Modified Win of 2025 at Elma

(May 3, 2025) — Zane Miner from Graham led every lap of Saturday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Grays Harbor Raceway to earn his first win of the 2025 season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Miner took a massive lead early on before a lap 7 caution briefly erased his advantage. Another stoppage on lap 9 reset the field again, but he executed strong restarts each time to maintain control. Behind him, Brenton Schnitzer and Tyson Blood battled fiercely for the runner-up spot in the final ten laps, with Schnitzer ultimately holding off Blood, who charged from deep in the field. Miner’s pace was tested again in lapped traffic with five laps to go, but a final caution with two laps remaining gave him a clean restart. Tyson Blood Gets 3rd Grays Harbor Modified Win of the Season

(July 27, 2025) — Four-time Washington State IMCA Champion and four-time Grays Harbor Track Champion Tyson Blood kept the momentum rolling with his third win of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway and fifth overall in the 2025 Shaw Race Cars Western Region for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Jake Sorenson led the early laps, fending off multiple challenges from Brenton Schnitzer. On lap nine, the battle for the lead reached a fever pitch as Blood made it three-wide on the front stretch. Entering turn one, Schnitzer got loose trying to avoid contact with Sorenson, clipped Blood, bounced off an infield tire, and came to a stop—bringing out the race’s only caution. On the restart, Blood powered to the outside and drove around Sorenson to take the lead for good. He never looked back and cruised to victory. Smith Charges From 30th to SportMod Victory at Boone

By Jane Burd BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 22, 2026) — Mike Smith turned a back-row challenge into a trip to victory lane Saturday night at Boone Speedway, charging from 30th starting to win the 20-lap Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature. Smith, from Lake City, was originally scheduled to start on the pole but accepted a back-row challenge offered by Johnathon Logue and instead lined up last in the 30-car field. Randy Havlik appeared headed for victory lane before Smith completed his charge through the field and powered past him for the lead on lap 18. Smith stayed in front the rest of the way for his 14th victory of the season and fifth at Boone Speedway. Havlik settled for second, Dusty Masolini was third, and Will Wolf advanced 10 positions to finish fourth. Gage Hilgenberg rounded out the top five. Paris entered the night holding a slim two-point advantage over Spencer Diercks and Wes Digman in the track championship chase. Starting third in the 20-lapper, the Muscatine driver raced his Performer Chassis to the checkered flag, and secured the 2026 Maquoketa Speedway championship. The victory was Paris’ first of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Diercks finished second, Huenefeld was third, Cody Laney took fourth, and Jeff “Bone” Larson charged from 19th to complete the top five.
