BOONE, Iowa (June 27, 2026) — Todd Shute got the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature victory after a dramatic late-race incident eliminated leader Paul Nagle with just three laps remaining.

Nagle led the opening 17 circuits and appeared poised for his first victory of the season before Shute attempted a pass entering turn one. Contact sent Nagle spinning, and Chaz Baca, with nowhere to go, struck Nagle’s disabled machine, ending both drivers’ nights.

Shute, of Norwalk, went on to score his 10th Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the season, including his third at Boone Speedway in 2026.

Trevor Fitz finished second ahead of Izac Mallicoat, Corey Sauerman, and Jake McBirnie. Chase Weimer had an impressive charge, advancing from 18th to eighth.

Smith Leads Flag-to-Flag and MacDonald Steals Second Boone Stock Car Feature

Devin Smith led every lap of the first Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature to earn his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, all of them coming at Boone Speedway.

The Lake City driver held off David Smith, Josh Daniels, Michael Jaennette, and Hunter Smith, who advanced 16 positions to complete the top five.

The second feature produced one of the night’s wildest finishes.

Jonathan Logue paced the early laps before Jimmy Gustin briefly took the lead. Logue reclaimed the top spot until lap 11, when contact sent him around, handing the lead to Buck Schafroth.

Schafroth appeared headed for victory until he and Gustin made contact coming to the white flag, allowing Jamison MacDonald to charge past both drivers for the victory. The Suamico, Wisconsin, racer earned his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season.

Gustin settled for second, Schafroth finished third after starting ninth, Doug Smith advanced from 10th to fourth, and Blake Lehman completed the top five.

A total of 41 Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars filled the pits, requiring the field to be split into twin features.

Stanton and Burg Capture Hobby Stock Features

Eric Stanton led all 15 laps of the opening Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature to score his second B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season, with wins now coming at two different tracks.

The Carlisle driver was followed by Braden Gifford, Seth Butler, Wyatt Johnson and Aaron Rudolph. Matt McDonald delivered an impressive drive from 18th to eighth.

The second feature showcased a remarkable comeback story.

Brayson Siegle led the opening six laps before Shane Butler moved to the front. Andrew Burg, who suffered a violent rollover during the IMCA TV Winter Nationals in Arizona earlier this year before rebuilding his car while helping with son Keith’s race team, charged from ninth to the lead on lap 11 and never looked back.

The Adel driver earned his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season.

Butler finished second ahead of Siegle, Kale Koch, and Michael Johnson Jr.

A total of 45 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks were on hand, creating split feature fields.

Avila Charges From 12th for Boone SportMod Win

Matt Avila overcame an 11-position starting disadvantage to claim the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature.

Jason Carney led early before Bradyn Gustin took command on lap five. Avila continued slicing through the field and grabbed the lead on lap 10 before driving away for his fifth victory of the season, including his second at Boone Speedway.

Will Wolf finished second ahead of Mike Smith, Gustin, and Carney.

Dayton Swatek nearly cracked the top five after charging from 18th to sixth.

Bryan Zehm advanced seven positions to finish second. Landon Elliott charged forward 10 spots for third, Austin Gray gained eight positions to finish fourth, and Grant Anderson completed the top five.

Robert Moore produced an outstanding drive from 24th to eighth.

Chandler Awarded Sport Compact Bumble Bee Nationals Victory

Brad Chandler captured the Bumble Bee Nationals in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts after post-race technical inspection disqualified apparent winner Mitch Bielenberg for a spring infraction.

Bielenberg led the first 13 laps before crossing the finish line first. Chandler ended up advancing nine positions from his original starting spot.

The Cedar Rapids driver earned his third victory of the season and first at Boone Speedway in 2026.

Mitchell Bunch was credited with second ahead of Michael Gardner, Cristian Grady and Brandon Reu. Luke Fraise posted one of the night’s biggest charges, racing from 21st to eighth.
