$10,111-to-Win Tanner Pelster Memorial Returns to Boone County Raceway July 12

ALBION, Neb. (June 24, 2026) — One of Nebraska’s most meaningful special events returns to Boone County Raceway on Sunday, July 12, as the sixth annual Sudbeck Underground Tanner Pelster Memorial honors the life and legacy of a beloved racer, competitor, and friend.

The event will feature Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds competing for some of the richest purses of the season.

Headlining the program are the IMCA Stock Cars, which will race for a massive $10,111 winner’s share. Second place pays $5,111, third earns $3,111, and all starters in the 24-car main event will take home at least $311. A tow bonus of $211 is also available.

The IMCA Stock Car feature winner will also be guaranteed a starting position in the 2026 B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational, to be held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds and Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks will each compete for $3,111 to win. Both divisions pay $1,111 for second and $1,011 for third, while all 24 feature starters will earn at least $211. Each class also features a $111 tow bonus.

The IMCA Modified winner will earn eligibility to try and qualify for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, also held during the IMCA Super Nationals.

Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National and Nebraska State points will be awarded in all three divisions. Modified drivers will compete for Jet Racing Central Region points, Stock Car competitors for EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region points, and Hobby Stock racers for B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region points.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 3 p.m., with racing set to begin at 4 p.m.

The Tanner Pelster Memorial has grown into one of the premier events on the regional racing calendar, attracting top competitors from throughout Nebraska and neighboring states while celebrating the memory of Tanner and the impact he continues to have on the racing community.

Drivers in all three divisions are encouraged to complete their pre-registration through MyRacePass ahead of race day.

$250 Sunoco bonuses highlight features at three Nebraska venues this week

VINTON, Iowa – The paydays get even better this week for a trio of IMCA Sunoco Late Model feature winners.  It begins Thursday evening at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus as the IMCA Late Model winner pockets an extra $250 courtesy of Sunoco Race Fuels. Friday night the bonus moves to Boone County Raceway in Albion. The final bonus of the weekend will be presented Saturday night at Off Road Speedway in Norfolk. Sunoco bonuses are being presented at IMCA Late Model sanctioned weekly tracks this year. Drivers are eligible for only one bonus during the 2020 racing season. If the feature winner is a previous Sunoco winner, the bonus moves to the next eligible position.  2020 winners have been Jeff Aikey at Independence Motor Speedway, Matt Ryan at 34 Raceway, Joel Callahan at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway, Eric Pollard at 300 Raceway, Justin Kay at Davenport Speedway and Dalton Simonsen at Marshalltown. IMCA will announce mid-week before the dates bonuses are to be awarded at each track.

Pace car wrapped, ready for Pelster Memorial

ALBION, Neb. – Fans and friends will cheer for Tanner Pelster one more time this Sunday, July 11.  The driver from Albion passed away following a work accident in February. His number 11T IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, now displaying a new wrap featuring hundreds of pictures of his family, farm, school and of course racing, will serve as the pace vehicle for the memorial event in his honor at the Boone County Fair race. “There have been so many hits and comments on the photos of the car posted online,” said his father Delmer, promoter of the track at Albion. “It’s still hard to believe how well-liked and how well-known Tanner was. It’s just amazing.” Businesses helping build the pace car included Big Daddy Race Cars, Performance Bodes, Ernie’s Body Shop, Twisted Images LLC, Bruegman Excavating, SA D-Signs, Roth Racing and Outback Motorsports. ALBION, Neb. (Jul. 13, 2025) – Chandler, Arizona transplant Ricky Thornton Jr. stormed to a thrilling last-lap victory during the 5th annual Tanner Pelster Memorial at Boone County Raceway, scoring his first Sunoco IMCA Stock Car win of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and becoming the fifth different winner of the prestigious $10,111-to-win event. The 30-lap main event saw Minnesota’s Jim Horejsi and Iowa racer Maguire De Jong duel for the top spot at the start, with De Jong securing the early advantage. A caution on lap two bunched up the field, but De Jong took off again on the restart while Kyle Vanover and Horejsi scrapped for second, allowing De Jong to check out with a big lead.
