ALGONA, Iowa (June 18, 2026) — Chris Krug made a dramatic last-corner pass to win a wild Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway.

Derrick Barglof paced the opening laps before a caution on lap five tightened the field. Following the restart, James Burns, Corbin White, Jade Lange, Brandon Nielsen and Krug traded positions in a furious battle for the lead. Burns used the high side to take command on lap seven before Nielsen grabbed the point one lap later.

Another caution with two laps remaining set up a thrilling finish. White surged to the lead on the restart and appeared headed for victory until Krug found an opening exiting the final corner and slipped past to score the win.

The Emmetsburg driver started 10th and earned his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season.

White settled for second while Arizona transplant Nathan DeRagon charged from 14th starting position to finish third. Lange was fourth and Bryce Sommerfeld completed the top five.

Shryock Outduels Opheim for Stock Car Victory

Kelly Shryock prevailed in a battle between veteran racers to win the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature.

Karter Evans led the opening portion of the race before Kevin Opheim took command on lap nine. The two-time track champion Shryock, meanwhile, methodically worked forward from seventh starting position and eventually tracked down Opheim in the closing laps.

Shryock seized the lead with three circuits remaining and survived a late caution to secure his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and first at Kossuth County in 2026.

Opheim finished second ahead of Evans, Troy Swearingen and Chad Palmer.

Mills Wins Third Straight at Algona

Jeremy Mills continued his dominance at Kossuth County Speedway by winning the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature for the third consecutive race.

Matt Looft led early before Nick Meyer moved to the front at the halfway point of the 20-lap contest. Mills, however, charged through the field and took over the lead with five laps remaining.

A caution with three laps to go briefly slowed his march to victory, but the Clear Lake racer remained in control to score his sixth win of the season. Five of those victories have come in Razor Chassis North Central Region competition, while his last three triumphs have all been recorded at Kossuth County Speedway.

Meyer crossed the stripe second, followed by Colby Fett, Looft and Chaz Baca Jr.

Simpson Scores Third SportMod Win of Season

Jake Simpson captured his third Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod victory of the season and remained perfect at Kossuth County Speedway in 2026.

Jackson Carey led the early stages before Simpson took over on lap six. Despite cautions on laps 13 and 14, the Algona driver maintained control and raced to the victory.

Alec Fett finished second while Payce Herrera was third. Carey settled for fourth and Josh Appel rounded out the top five.

The win was Simpson’s third of the year, with all three coming at his hometown track.
