COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 16, 2026) — Grey Ferrando drove to victory in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature during the fourth round of the 2026 Wild West Speedweek at Cottage Grove Speedway on Tuesday night, earning his second series victory of the week after winning Sunday’s event at River City Speedway and the fourth Speedweek triumph of his career.
Defending DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Western Region, Oregon State, and Cottage Grove Speedway champion Kevin Williamson paced the opening lap of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature before 2017 track champion Grey Ferrando charged to the lead on lap two.
A caution on lap three briefly slowed Ferrando’s momentum, but the Scio driver quickly reestablished control on the restart and again after another yellow on lap seven. Ferrando remained untouchable through the middle stages of the race and worked lapped traffic beginning on lap 16.
A caution on lap 21 erased his sizable advantage, and Matt Sanders, winner of the previous night’s feature and the last two Wild West Speedweek Northern SportMod championships, advanced into second on the restart. Another caution on lap 24 tightened the field once more, but Ferrando was flawless on the final restart while Williamson and Sanders battled for the runner-up position.
Ferrando drove away to secure the victory, which was also his seventh Western Region win of 2026 at six different racetracks and his first triumph at Cottage Grove Speedway this season.
The feature served as a Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifier. Ferrando was already on the eligibility list to attempt to qualify for the event at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Williamson finished second, while Sanders charged from eighth to third. Two-time defending Speedweek champion Bricen James was fourth in the Schram Motorsports No. 13, followed by Eston Whisler in fifth.
Wild Becomes First Repeat Cottage Grove Speedweek Stock Car Winner
The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature began with 2024 Arizona State champion Mitchell Ferguson taking the early lead before defending series champion B.J. Wild began applying pressure on lap seven.
Wild, aboard the Dwayne Klein-owned No. 22K, wrestled away the lead on lap eight and immediately established himself as the driver to beat. Behind him, fierce battles for second kept the fans entertained throughout the caution-free contest.
Cody Humphrey moved into second on lap 15 but was overtaken late by three-time series champion Chase Berkeley, who secured the runner-up position on lap 22.
Wild cruised to his third victory of the week in four Speedweek races, fifth career series win, and second consecutive Cottage Grove Speedweek triumph. The Colville, Washington, racer, by way of Redmond, also became the first repeat Stock Car winner in Cottage Grove Wild West Speedweek history. The win was his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season.
Berkeley finished second after starting 10th, followed by Humphrey in third. Ferguson held on for fourth, while Tyler Pagel rounded out the top five.
Henry Earns First Career Speedweek SportMod Victory
Orange County, California, teenager Talon Mulvey led the opening lap of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod main event before 2023 Cottage Grove Speedway champion Jordan Henry took command on lap two.
Ricky Ashley, driving the T.R. Points Trucking-owned No. 8511, appeared poised to challenge for the lead on lap six, but a caution negated his momentum. Following the restart, Henry, Ashley, and defending track champion Aaron Bloom engaged in a thrilling three-car battle for the top spot.
Another caution on lap 10 waved off Ashley’s pass for the lead, allowing Henry to maintain command. Multiple restarts throughout the second half of the race failed to shake the Roseburg driver, although Bloom and Ashley continued to pressure him.
Ashley mounted one final charge in the closing laps but got out of shape on the final circuit and briefly tangled with Bloom. Henry maintained control to score his first career Wild West Speedweek victory and second win of the season, both coming at Cottage Grove Speedway.
Two-time defending Oregon State champion Trevor Points rallied from ninth to finish second. Bloom salvaged third, while Mason King advanced from 11th to fourth. Kody Greer completed the top five.
