Sanders, Bryant are first night Freedom Cup winners

(April 23, 2022) –  After a few weeks of inclement weather, Cottage Grove Speedway finally returned to racing on Saturday, with Paul Rea and Isaac Sanders earning IMCA laurels.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature started with Rea seizing the lead. He had to deal with four cautions which kept everyone else close. On the fourth and final restart on lap 18, Jake Mayden tried to seize the coveted P1 position.  Mayden obtained the lead briefly but Rea counterattacked to reclaim the position and went on to win the race and earn his second victory in 2022. Aaron Sheelar wound up second in the finishing order with Curtis Towns in third.  The Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods had an incredible race. (Aug. 29) – Cottage Grove Speedway raced for the sixth occasion on Saturday, with more than 90 entries from Oregon, Washington, and California making the trip. The IMCA Modified feature was a thriller with numerous lead changes and close action all the way to the end.  Paul Rea got to the front first but was quickly passed by Curtis Towns, who then saw Aaron Sheelar drive by.  Sheelar and Towns stayed side-by-side for several laps and traded the lead on three occa­sions. Towns regained first place on lap eight and remained there for some time. Curtis felt some heat in the last 10 laps as John Campos put an enormous amount of pressure on him.    Campos finally managed to beat Towns to the line on lap 21 only to lose the position to Towns the next time around. By Ben Deatherage  COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Cottage Grove Speedway gets the new race season started on Saturday, April 20 with and has a special Easter Eggstavaganza (featuring over 2,000 eggs and an appearance by the Easter Bunny at intermission) planned during the night.  IMCA Modifieds are on the evening card.  Pit gates open at 1 p.m., the front gate opens at 3:30 p.m., time trials are at 5:30 p.m. and racing is scheduled to kick off at approximately 6 p.m.   Tickets are $13 for adults, seniors, juniors and military are $10, youth ages 6-12 are $5 and children five and under are free.  A family pass (two adults and up to four youth) sells for $35. VIP skybox seating is $25 and pit passes are $30.
