BOONE, Iowa (June 6, 2026) — Trevor Fitz tracked down race-long leader Izac Mallicoat and made the winning move with just two laps remaining to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature during Saturday night’s Topless 30 program at Boone Speedway.
Mallicoat appeared destined for victory after pacing the field for the first 28 laps of the 30-lap contest. The Arizona driver maintained command through several challenges before Fitz closed the gap in the waning stages.
The Bondurant driver, originally from Camarillo, California, completed the decisive pass on lap 29 and held on to score his third victory of the season, with all three wins coming at Boone Speedway.
The triumph also made Fitz eligible to attempt qualification for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational at the upcoming Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
Mallicoat settled for second after his dominant performance. Jeremy Mills crossed the stripe third, Kyle Brown was fourth, and Arkansas racer Brint Hartwick completed a remarkable charge from 20th to fifth.
Smith Scores First Career Stock Car Victory
The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars produced another memorable finish as Hunter Smith earned the first Stock Car victory of his career.
Arizona transplant Ryan Roath controlled the opening 15 circuits and looked poised for the win before Smith reeled him in during the closing laps.
Smith, from Fort Morgan, Colorado, grabbed the lead with two laps remaining and paced the final five circuits to become the newest winner in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region.
David Smith delivered one of the night’s best drives, advancing 18 positions to finish second. Roath settled for third, Buck Schafroth took fourth, and Doug Smith also gained 18 positions to round out the top five.
Reimers Rallies for SportMod Topless 30 Triumph
Cam Reimers continued his outstanding season by charging from deep in the field to win the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod Topless 30.
Cory Pestotnik set the pace through the first 14 laps before Reimers wrestled away the lead on lap 15.
The Kelley driver advanced nine positions and drove away for his sixth victory of the season. Half of those wins have come at Boone Speedway.
Willy Kirk gained six positions to finish second. Joe Reetz completed the podium while Randy Havlik was fourth and Hunter Poston advanced six spots to finish fifth.
Wollenhaupt Charges to Hobby Stock Victory
Joe Wollenhaupt put together an impressive drive through the field to capture the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature.
Braelynn Long led the opening lap before Dylan Hill controlled the next eight circuits. Wollenhaupt worked his way through traffic and took command on lap 10.
The Neola driver then held off the challengers to score his first B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region victory of the season.
Hill finished second while Bryce Sommerfeld took third. Corey VanderWilt advanced from 12th to fourth and Eric Knutson climbed from 11th to complete the top five.
Gray Wins Second Straight Boone Mod Lite Feature
Austin Gray made it back-to-back victories in Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite competition.
Garrett Barber led the early laps before Gray took over on lap 10 and never looked back.
The Story City driver advanced 10 positions and collected his second win of the season, with both victories coming at Boone Speedway.
Josh May finished second while Cory Sonner charged forward nine positions to claim third. Grant Anderson was fourth and Colin Anderson rounded out the top five.
