Barger Brothers Shine at I-90; Bickett Adds Historic Win

HARTFORD, S.D. (May 9, 2026) — Nate Barger led the Barger brothers from Madison to a one-two finish in Saturday’s RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature at I-90 Speedway.

Starting fifth, Barger worked his way to the front in the 20-lap main event and capitalized during an intense battle for the lead. Heavy lapped traffic in the closing laps allowed brother Nick Barger to close the gap, but Nate held strong at the finish to secure the victory.

Nick Barger crossed the line second to complete the family sweep at the top of the podium. Lee Goos Jr. finished third, while Michalob Voeltz and Corbin Erickson completed the top five.

Earlier in the evening, I-90 Speedway also completed the make-up feature from May 2, and it was veteran Ryan Bickett putting together a dominant performance.

The Ramona driver guided the No. 17B machine to Victory Lane after leading all 20 laps in the caution-free main event. The win further cemented Bickett’s place in track history, as he now stands as the third-winningest sprint car driver in I-90 Speedway history.

Andrew Sullivan finished second, followed by Lee Goos Jr. in third. Owen Carlson crossed the line fourth, while Mason Slendy rounded out the top five.

Henderson Charges to Redemption Win at I-90 Speedway

HARTFORD, S.D. (Jul. 12, 2025) –– Sam Henderson delivered a determined and emotional victory in the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car special at I-90 Speedway, rebounding from a crash the night before to score his first IMCA win of the 2025 campaign. Just hours after suffering heartbreak at Jackson Motorplex while leading, the Sullivan Racing crew went into overdrive to field another machine for Henderson, a 23-year-old standout from Sioux Falls. The team prepped the backup no. 91H, and Henderson made it count. Starting sixth on the grid, Henderson steadily carved through the field during the 25-lap main event. Early race leader Andrew Sullivan, in the primary no. 91, looked strong after drawing the pole in the frontstretch redraw and paced the first half of the feature. But disaster struck again for the team, as Sullivan cut a right rear tire while holding the lead. Henderson inherited the top spot and never looked back, fending off a late-race challenge from Dusty Ballenger to secure the win. Lee Goos Jr. completed the podium with a solid third-place showing.

IMCA RaceSaver Sprints join Saturday shows at I-90

HARTFORD, S.D. – A work day at the track and a barrage of phone calls from IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car drivers have owner and promoter Lyle Howey III convinced that quite a few folks in the Hartford area are excited about the re-opening of I-90 Speedway. The sanctioned Sprint division will return to IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing Saturday night programs this season at the South Dakota speedplant, idle for the past three years. The single Friday night date during the May 11-Sept. 7 point season is July 5. “There’s a lot of excitement that I-90 is opening back up,” said Howey, noting the hundred or so volunteers who showed up to help tear down the old bleachers last December. “I think the car count is going to be good for the Sprints.
