PRICE, Utah (Sept. 27, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds closed out the Castle County Clash at Desert Thunder Raceway with a barnburner. Waylon Hale led the opening lap before a lap-two caution reset the field. On the restart, Kade Dimick — a two-time Utah State and Desert Thunder Raceway Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod champion — powered into the lead.
Dimick controlled the race through another caution on lap seven, setting the pace as Hale kept close. With only a handful of laps left, the leaders entered lapped traffic, and Hale slipped underneath to challenge. Just as the duel heated up, Braxton Yeager joined the mix. Running the high line to perfection, Yeager beat both Dimick and Hale back to the stripe for the dramatic win.
Yeager, the 2022 Sweetwater Speedway track champion from Green River, Wyoming, was driving for the Hislop family and clinched the overall Clash crown with the victory. Dimick held on for second, Hale ran third, while Yeager’s father Justen, 2009 Shaw Race Cars Western Region champion, and brother Bryson, a two-time Sweetwater Speedway track champion, completed the top five.
Justen Yeager had won Friday night, with New Mexico’s Regan Tafoya victorious on Thursday.
Herrera Sweeps SportMods and Clash
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods saw Payce Herrera put on a show to win his third straight night at a track he cut his teeth at. Kenny Parish, the 2025 track champion, led the first lap before 2019 New Mexico State champion Camron Spangler began to pressure him.
On lap seven, Camden Wilson, the 2023 Utah State and track champion, took command. But the charge of Herrera was underway. The 2024 Junior National champion, who started 10th, grabbed the lead on lap 10 after a restart and never looked back. Herrera, originally from Price but racing much of the summer in Iowa, checked out for the convincing win.
Spangler finished second, Wilson third, David Madill fourth and Parish fifth. Herrera, who also won Thursday and Friday, swept the weekend to claim the Clash title.
Herrera Earns First Stock Car Victory; Sellers Secures Clash Title
In the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Iowa’s Dakota Sellers led the first three laps before cautions slowed the pace. That allowed Herrera, pulling double duty and driving the Schipper Farms-owned no. 711, to move into second and begin applying pressure.
By lap 10, Herrera had muscled his way into the lead, pulling away for his first career IMCA Stock Car win. Sellers crossed in second and earned the overall Clash title, while 2020 Colorado State Stock Car champion Race Fisher finished third. Levi Card took fourth and reigning Utah State champion Brad Ostler was fifth.
Dillion Lawrence had won both Thursday and Friday.
Ferrell Dominates Hobby Stocks; Mylee JoAnn Named Clash Champion
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks belonged to Colorado’s Hunter Ferrell. Formerly a New Mexico State Hobby Stock champion, Ferrell took the lead on lap five from Southern California’s Kevin Reuter, the 2023 IMCA TV Winter Nationals Sport Compact champion.
A lap-10 restart only fueled Ferrell’s run, as he rocketed away from the pack and dominated to the finish. Mylee JoAnn, the 2023 New Mexico State Sport Compact champion, worked her way into second after a battle with reigning B&B Racing Chassis Southern Region Stock Car champion Nathan DeRagon, who finished third.
Mylee JoAnn was also crowned the overall Clash champion. Jake Jensen crossed in fourth, with Reuter fifth. Ferrell had also won Thursday night, while Race Vasquez captured Friday’s feature.
Gray Sweeps Mod Lites at the Clash
The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites were headlined by Austin Gray’s weekend sweep. Three-time Desert Thunder track champion Jaydun Thomas led the early laps before Gray, starting 10th, worked his way forward.
The Story City, Iowa driver and 2025 Boone Speedway track champion took the lead on lap six and dominated to the checkers. Thomas finished second, with Ben George of Iowa third, Dillion Thomas fourth and Jeff Wood fifth.
Gray’s victory on Saturday capped a three-night sweep, making him the Clash champion.
Williams Prevails in Sport Compacts; Rogers Takes Clash Honors
The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts wrapped up the Clash with David Rogers leading early before Myton’s Cody Williams took over on lap four. Following a caution, Williams held off Rogers and broke away as a three-car battle developed for second.
Williams, who had also won Friday, drove to the win, with Rogers in second and taking Clash honors. Jayden Small of Colorado was third, Arizona’s Alex Berdge charged from 15th to fourth, and Dewy Bowden finished fifth.
Kyle Gotschall had scored Thursday’s feature victory.
