Tathan Burkhart Grabs Stock Car Victory at WaKeeney

WaKEENEY, Kan. (Aug. 15, 2025) — Kyle Pfeifer and Drew Miller led the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car field to the green for their 20-lap main event at WaKeeney Speedway. Pfeifer jumped out early, but Tathan and Troy Burkhart quickly worked past Miller to join the fight at the front. The battle shifted when Pfeifer spun in turns one and two, collecting Troy Burkhart in the process, forcing both to pull off early. Modified driver Dylan Sherfick also exited the race.

Once in clean air, Tathan Burkhart was untouchable. He set the pace for the remainder of the feature and collected his seventh win of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Doug Holzmeister crossed the line second, with Trey Zorn completing the podium in third.

Morgan Olmstead Holds Off Brother Zach in Hobby Action

The 15-lap Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main event rolled off with Nick Sherfick and Morgan Olmstead on the front row. Morgan fired to the lead early, but a caution flew when young Sherfick spun in the opening laps. On the restart, Olmstead again took command while his brother Zach and Dylan Bell quickly charged into contention.

The trio raced closely for much of the event, but the running order never changed as Morgan held firm out front. He led every circuit to collect his fourth win of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Zach Olmstead finished second, with Bell settling for third.

Gottschalk finds fastest line at Fose Memorial

WaKEENEY, Kan. (Sept. 14, 2024) – After starting 11th, Daniel Gottschalk admitted he didn’t think he’d be a contender at WaKeeney Speedway’s inaugural John Fose Memorial. After being involved in an early-race scuffle and restarting in the back row of the 20-car Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field, he was even more skeptical. Then he found the fast line. WaKeeney opens with IMCA Blizzard Bash Dash

WaKEENEY, Kan. (April 9, 2024) – The green flag flies again this season at WaKeeney Speedway, with five IMCA divisions running at the Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20 Buzzard Bash Dash. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win and both IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods for $600 to win each night. Modified winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Stock Car winners for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. Pfeifer Holds Rogers off at Line in Stock Car Thriller at WaKeeney

(Jul. 10, 2025) — Kyle Pfeifer earned his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature win of the season at WaKeeney Speedway in thrilling fashion, edging Jason Rogers at the line in a dramatic finish. Pfeifer, who previously won at Colby and Hays, worked the bottom groove to perfection as he and Rogers went side-by-side in the closing laps of the 20-lap main. Troy Burkhart led early until slipping high and falling from contention. Rogers and Brett Berry swapped the lead before Berry encountered issues. 1,000 Drivers Set to Chase Glory at 2025 IMCA Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 20, 2025) – For the fourth consecutive year, pre-entries for the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s have topped the 1,000 mark. On August 20, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock driver Eric Cross of Salina, Kansas, became the 1,000th driver to register for the 43rd annual event. All divisions are currently pacing ahead of last year’s totals, with 285 Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, 237 Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, 168 Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, 159 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, 78 Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and 60 Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts already entered. The overall all-time record of 1,036 competitors was set last year, with 1,061 pre-registered entries. The Stock Car total is already an all-time preregistration record for the class, surpassing last year’s mark of 281. Donor Provides Complimentary Registration for Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite Drivers at Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 20, 2025) – An anonymous donor has stepped forward to support Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite drivers by covering the cost of registration for the division, beginning Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 8 a.m. CST. Registration can be found on MyRacePass by searching IMCA Super Nationals. In addition to free Mod Lite registration, each Mod Lite driver who pre-enters for the event between August 20 and August 29, will also receive a complimentary pit pass for both Saturday and Sunday of the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
